I'm of the opinion that young people (and too many older people who should know better) are influenced by the mindless crap that is shown on tele. Yeah there is some good stuff on there but it is IMO so far and few between. I also believe that on it's invention, it has been used as a medium to brainwash and manipulate a large section of society into having beliefs and thoughts that they would not have had without it. These IMO are beliefs and thoughts that are learned and ingrained into our minds from a very young age.
I get that not everyone is as impressionable as some and those of you who are immune to it can enjoy it without any ill effect. I'm not trying to make a blanket statement.
Mate, I've had a few and I'd rather answer your question at a later date. I could ramble on and on.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is this. There is a lot of shit on TV that influences how people think. It's a lot easier for people to form an opinion by copying one they saw on tele rather than actually thinking about it themselves.
I could be wrong. Maybe it's me who is out of touch. Maybe I see TV as a mirror i'd rather smash. f**ked if i know. would you like to hear more?

Fair enough.
I do think you have a point, to a degree. However I’m not entirely of the opinion that TV is the basis for so many of the world’s problems.

Agree. It is about de senstitising people from things. I can see why so many countries hate USA for the garbage they put on TV. Shit like days of our lives where people are banging like mad and having affairs etc. Sure people are aware it isn't right but they see it all the time

Well of course if you only take the bottom rung of shows on tv then it’s all going to look bad. There’s heaps of garbage on the box that is never watch in a million years, but that doesn’t mean that all tv is terrible.
Shows like Days of our Lives are harmless. Even something like MAFS is not that bad. People watch it so they can see some ‘real life’ drama and feel superior to those on the show.
What is really the problem with tv is the 24 hour news cycle and completely biased reporting from the various news channels. People understand that those other shows are not real life, but the news is presented differently.
