If we re-sign Moses for anything around 750-800K, Gutho for around 700K, Reedy for around 300-400K and Brown for around 500-600K and they all maintain their current form(in Brown's case gets better with experience of course) then I think we are way ahead on value for money and will have a very, very high quality spine for years to come.

The rest of the team can be built and rebuilt around these guys for the next 5 to 10 years. That is what Melbourne has done with the initial big 4, then the big 3, then the big 2, and now the big 1. I haven't included Munster because he is a late comer into the team and wasn't in the initial big four. Also, once Smith is gone, Munster will not be able to do what Smith can on his own. He will need a lot of help around him and that type of help doesn't grow on trees.

Intersting what they do with Rheed. Seems like a lot more hype surrounded Schneider. There would be others who could tell the difference of quality between the 2.

Salmon is only a baby and has already shown that he is up to the defence at NRL level. He threw a nice pass to Kaufusi yesterday who ran a superb line. Salmon is a keeper too. Maybe he will end up playing lock ? I have not seen enough of him to think that he will be a gun centre.

By memory was 2 head high tackles that resulted in HIA. And a penalty.
Wasn't Jenning sin binned for that in round one?
Little confused

Gutherson raised the exact same point with the ref.

The referee arrogant decreed, "That's not how the rules work."

Gutherson raised the issue that Jennings was binned in Round 1 for an accidental head-high shot that ended Yeo's match - tbh, I think the ref was too spineless to send a guy to the sin bin 30 seconds into the match, even though it was warranted...

Mbye's shoulder charge to Niukore's head was another one that warranted a closer look, imo...

Apparently its only sin bin worthy if the incident is put on report. Then the question needs to be asked, if there was illegal play that resulted in Alvaro leaving the field, why wasn’t it put on report.

100%.

We were down to 16 for 79:30, because of an illegal play, and all we got was a penalty.

It kind of makes our demolition job that much more impressive, but I'm furious that the NRL's rules are so flimsy (or, at least, the referees' interpretations of said rules are flimsy).

Moses threw that pass. Salmon's was to Lane for his try. Salmon was more of a back-rower/centre in his junior days. Definitely more of a hole runner than a ball player, I think we saw that when he exploded into a hole and set up Dyl back on the inside.

I believe the rule is if, in the referees opinion the player won’t return to the field then it is a sin bin.

I’m glad the referee is a doctor and could see that Alvaro would come back, otherwise he may have had to put the Tigers player in the bin......and what happens, Alvaro didn’t return and we are disadvantaged! They are a f**king disgrace!

Mbye also put his forearm into Marata’s head and he goes off for the concussion test and apparently that is fine yet Gutho gets penalised for less.....

The referees were disgraceful yesterday, it’s great we won and all but if that was against a better team they could have cost us the game!

It was obvious Alvaro was more than likely gone for the day. Amazing how decisions differ from match to match.

he is starting to grow on me, he did some really nice things yesterday that suggest he may be suited to 5/8 as he does have some ball playing ability

he could go OK as middle half, a la Paulo, but at this stage I have no idea where he will end up

I really don't get it...

We lost an important part of our team thirty seconds into the game, due to foul play...and all we get is a penalty, and a free interchange.

It didn't affect the result, fortunately (and how lucky are we, that we lose Alvaro, but still have Timmy on the bench), but that was a gutless call from the ref.

It is even more criminal that the 4 officials missed it on the run. They ruled a knock on initially when he got up and then collapsed.

They are f**king useless!!

Ben Cummins was sitting about 6seats up from me yesterday, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I knew him from until nearly full time. I could have asked him all of these questions. Or better still, sent my 10yr old daughter to sit next to him so she could ask him 1000 times 'what just happened'

Haha we had a 8 year old sitting with us yesterday. He had the attention span of a goldfish.

Gutherson was spot on, how is the shot that Alvaro or even Niukore any different to Jennings. I don't agree with the rule but where is the bloody consistency?

Well it was that Inbred Sutton, who some how is still a first grade ref...

I reckon he offer little in halves. However it could take 12mths before he adapts.
No kicking game either.

Growing up he was a ball playing/ wide running second rower.
