I don’t think French is the answer as I dont see him as being able to play fullback to a consistent first grade standard. This is just my opinion and obviously others differ.

Didn't he play 5/8th in a representative or grand final team and almost win the game for them? Cronulla obviously thought his best position was 5/8th and they should know as he one of their juniors. I'd like to see something that'll tell me he is going to be a good player, any little thing. Atm he is just average in an average team and we need more than average.

Exactly. How much are the fullbacks worth at top four sides Melbourne, Souths and Canberra?

Being an average NRL player at 20 after only 10 games is a pretty bloody good achievement.

I reckon Johnson would command close to $500k and Jahrome Hughes will be valued near that figure (maybe even higher if his form continues) this time next year when he is off contract.

Gutho is a better option than Johnson IMO and at this stage, a better option than Hughes.

Tell you what, and it has been mentioned here by a few over the past week or so, but if Gutho does himself a season ender this weekend (or the weekend after or whenever) with no signature on a deal it could have a massive impact on his career and future earnings and his life as a whole... His manager is telling a few close pals from News Ltd that Manly have tabled an offer (which the Tele is now backtracking on) to spook Parra... No such contract is on the table and even if it comes it may be worth less than what we are offering...

Dangerous game being played by a manager whose client is not attracting offers anywhere near what he is asking of Parra from ANY club...

We've been through this many times. What proportion of players do you think change clubs mid-year? Mid-contract? And when they go mid-contract, it is often b/c the employing club is trying to move them on.

An ‘average’ 20 year old NRL player will end up better than average.

And even if he doesn’t, every team has average players. There’s nothing wrong with them.

At the end of the day u have to ask yourself is Gutherson worth $250 more than Ferguson, Fergo may be older, my guess is better injury wise, which in my opinion negates the age gap.

Um, the clause means he does not need his clubs permission to negotiate, you thickshit. So it's not a relevant example when you're comparing to players on contract.

Brisbane pissing him off early is the end result of the clause, but they didn't need to give him permission to talk to other clubs
