Gutho doesn’t strike me as a bonehead. He’d know exactly where things are at. I don’t blame him for it, it’s his right and he’s exercising it. But he can also cop some flak for it playing out the way it has as ultimately its Ayoub representing him and working for him, he calls the shots.

I’d be surprised if the club don’t offer him a deal before too long, with a deadline attached. Better to rip the band aid off quickly in my opinion.

IF TRUE the Manly offer has an extra year. That's an extra 750k straight away. It's not 650k vs 750k, it's $1.95 mill vs $3 mill.

If reports are true we could essentially give him an extra 700k this year under a new deal...I think. I'm always confused about the changes to back and frontloading upgrades.

I thought you could if you upgrade and extend (which is what we would do with Gutho). It probably also has to be reasonable too. I doubt you could do 1 million in year 1, and 200k for the following years

That's my understanding too. So for eg if he's on 400k now (I feel like that's a reasonable guess?) I don;t see why we couldn't go to 900-odd, and then 3x700-odd

Ive been flip flopping all day on this. But for me, I am feeling a bit frustrated for the club, who seem to be trying to do things for the right way and still risk getting the rough part of the pineapple. I want Clinton to stay, I concur with your pricing, but I also think he could shown a bit more leadership as the captain of the club and instructed his manager to keep it out the media. He has let it get out of control imo by claiming ignorance till now.

The fourth year also comes with an opportunity cost of potentially more than he signs for.
