Ethan Parry hasn't come anywhere near first grade yet. You are happy to gut Salmon but are advocating a total unknown.
Salmon has had plenty of time to show potential and has yet to show any. 1 decent game in 8? does not inspire confidence. And now your advocating not giving another young player any games to show if he is capable. If you're happy to stick with a mediocre player than good on you. Btw plenty of young players have debuted this year and all have shown much more potential than Salmon has.

Why would we let most go? You still need a squad of 30, and most have shown they are up to being average NRL players - which is what most NRL squads are made off.

Also its pretty hard trying recruiting 15 new players without f**king the cap!!

All we need to do is re-sign most of those players at a reasonable price which reflect their value and identity 1-2 positions we want to strengthen and recruit 1-2 top 17 players for those positions.
I'd prefer a mixture of juniors and new recruits.

I'm not happy to stick to mediocre players. I'm just disagreeing that Salmon has not shown anything. I think he's going OK.

Besides every squad has some mediocre players. Not that I'm saying Salmon is one of them, he's tracking quite well in a position that he's really only ever played because in lower level age reps you essentially stick your best player at six. And now we need a guy with experience in the position in our FG team

This idea that there is no place or need for middle of the the road players is baffling

Agree. He is almost invisible in games. Bizarre he trained in centres all off season and when a spot pops up there he is dropped.
He is not a 5/8 but he maybe a solid centre. Head left scratching why he did not get a shot tonight. Unless he is a late call up.

At this point of time I don't consider him a middle of the road player. What has Taka got to do to get sacked? Salmon has trained as a centre and BA still refuses to select him there? So whats going on, does BA have the same opinion?

I actually think that BA is restinga young guy who got found out a bit in D last week. He's managing him, imo. Didn't do Latrell any harm.

It is. In a squad of 30 how many 'mediocre' players can teams realistically be expected to carry? I challenge anyone to have a look at the Roosters' NRL squad and find fewer than a dozen who wouldn't make our top 17: https://www.roosters.com.au/teams/?competition=111&team=500001

So far only 1 journo is tweeting this......and he's obviously not implying that the Oates is signing for 200k per season. One would imagine that a 3 year deal is 500k below the value of whatever the competitor's offer is. So if someone actually did offer him 700k, this would imply that the Broncos are paying him about 540k. Or all of it could be crap.
Regardless, supposedly passing up 500k in total is a fair sacrifice (allegedly) ... i would say it would be quite rare

Oh now you've done it

I said the Roosters squad had a lot of nuffies and people called me names! Of course they also suddenly vanished when I asked them if they'd like to trade Lindsay Collins or Craig Garvey for our blokes... Lol

Depends. Does he have a family? Is he settled in Brisbane?
Living in Sydney would be more expensive. But they key to this nnarticle most likely being bullshit is what club would offer Corey Oates 700k? He is hardly a superstar. A good strong winger and one of the best in this department but with average hands and limited skills. His speed is also average for a winger.

Anymore then 500k would be overs for this bloke. 450k is about where I would put him.

What they do have is 5 or 6 guys worth over 750k.

That's right. The problem isn't our solid first graders. We have about 20 blokes good enough to win a premiership. The problem is we lack stars. That isn't the fault of players like Tim Mannah, who would walk into the top 17 at any NRL club, including the Roosters and Storm.

Yup, exactly what I've said elsewhere.

They've sacrificed depth for a handful of superstars. They have got a couple of solid value players like Liu and Tetevano too, because that's how they make up for the big names. But they've got an awful lot of plod if a big name goes down...
