1. Kenny didn't need to kick because he had Sterlo right there to do that for him.
2. No arguments there.
3. There was no insult intended, childish or not. If you were offended, then I apologise.
4. It's only a forum........FFS!
Kenny was 100% a footballer. I don't think I've seen anyone break a line with just a drop of the shoulder and a feint like he could. It was obviously a very different game back then, but he was something very special.1. Kenny didn't need to kick because he had Sterlo right there to do that for him.
!
You can only compare players from the era that they played in. Rules, professionalism, etc. Would Kenny be special these days? I'd have to say so.Kenny was 100% a footballer. No I can compare him to modern players. He's heaps better than Super Morgs.
No wuckers.........it's all good!Sorry, man - crappy day.
Brett Kenny is definitely one of our greatest ever Eels, hands down.
he was an intercept king as wellKenny was 100% a footballer. I don't think I've seen anyone break a line with just a drop of the shoulder and a feint like he could. It was obviously a very different game back then, but he was something very special.
he was an intercept king as well
The unsung hero was Paul Taylor. I always admired his ability to play above his weight.I didn't get to watch too much of the 80's Eels, but from highlights packages, and full match replays, my favourites were Mick Cronin, and Ray Price.
But Kenny was pure poetry in motion - he had such beautiful, graceful, elegant movement.
How do you overdo intercepts? Do you mean failed intercepts as opposed to successful ones?Yes, but he started to overdo it after a few years (I'm thinkin 86).

I don't think cellar men had the ingenuity to show off. They just prefer tap 'n go. I'll see myself out.Maybe you just use them to show off like a mug lair....?
Like Ryan Girdler
Stats?Yes, he ran out of the line and left some mother f**king big gaps.
Yeah. He was a liability in defence at times.Yes, he ran out of the line and left some mother f**king big gaps.
All his qualities were still extremely valuable today. He just mightn't be as suited to the halves. You can only compare players from the era that they played in. Rules, professionalism, etc. Would Kenny be special these days? I'd have to say so.
It's all hypothetical but I think he would have made a great half in today's game. Where else would you have put him?All his qualities were still extremely valuable today. He just mightn't be as suited to the halves.
