Waqa Official
Waqa Blake signs with the Eels

The Parramatta Eels Rugby League Club has signed Penrith Panthers centre Waqa Blake on a four-and-half year contract commencing this week and concluding at the end of the 2023 NRL Telstra Premiership season.

The powerful centre made his NRL debut with the Panthers in 2015 and has since scored 34 tries in 88 first grade appearances, finishing 2018 as the leading try scorer for his Club.

Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur said he was looking forward to welcoming Waqa to Parramatta.

“It’s pleasing to have landed a quality player in Waqa as we head towards the business end of the season. We want to ensure that we complement our playing squad with strong acquisitions and Waqa certainly fits the criteria we are looking for.

In 2015 Waqa was selected for NSW City Origin squad and made his international debut for Fiji in 2017.

Backline is one of best in comp now.
All are on the way up or in peak bar MJ.

Gutherson - up
Sivo - up
MJ - Down
Blake- peak
Fergo - peak
Brown - up
Moses - up

Forwads need ironing out. We want guys whomare good enough tonplay at nrl level but are still yet to peak or are at peak. Nothing wrong with guys like MJ who are on way down cause at there peak they where top 5 in position. They are still able to compete and a good nrl level.

You do not want guys like Mannah on their way down. His best level isnt great so a slight drop off and he becomes NSW cup level.
BA is learning.

Terepo is NRL level and in his peak. Like it or not he is capable of playing at NRL level for 3 more years. He wouldn't cost a bomb either so provides great value and little risk.
I think this calls for a power rankings update

“The future of several other Parramatta players remains uncertain. Another centre, Michael Jennings, is yet to re-sign, with the hold up understood to be that he’s hoping for a two-year deal after the club offered him just one.

Tepai Moeroa also has an offer on the table, but is considering a switch back to rugby. It’s understood the forward has received interest from the Waratahs and is seriously considering a switch at the end of the season.

Other Eels off contract include Brad Takairangi, Bevan French, Josh Hoffman, David Gower, Tim Mannah and Ray Stone.”
