Tepai is only outside the 17 because Gower is in terrific form. Your assertion that he has been offered a reduced salary is made up in an attempt to strengthen your argument. He is still only 23 and has played 101 FG games FFS. You can't manufacture that experience and there would few on the market who could equal it.

It IS possible that the Eels are taking a cautious approach with his head injuries and the length of his next contract could be impacted with this approach.

If he can continue to play at a high level and not be hampered by concussion, then he would continue to be a great addition to our squad IMHO.

On his last contract he was paid on potential and on quite a good deal of money, which he hasn’t delivered on IMO. It would be only fair to assume he has been offered quite a deal less this time. He obviously thinks he is worth more and good luck to him if he can get it somewhere else.

Tepai has had all the time in the world to prove his worth and if anything he has gotten worse. He reminds me of Lasalo. I thought by now he would be an origin contender. He might have been a freak athlete in his younger days but that hasn’t helped him playing top level rugby league. I also think him moving to Union is a death wish. Only the best league players make it in union. He’s a below par league player. He will disappear in Union and won’t be welcomed back by any NRL clubs.

I’m a bit the same, to be honest.
Not saying he won’t turn out to be a good player, but so far if he hadn’t shown himself to be an angry merkin who will give away some dumb penalties then I wouldn’t have ever noticed him out on the field.

Tepai Moeroa also has an offer on the table, but is considering a switch back to rugby.

I would think its not a very good offer if the Waratahs can outbid us. He'd be OK for depth but I wont miss him if he's off.

Disagree. I reckon he has been offered a far reduced salary moving forward and has gone to market to see if he can get more. I think the fact he has even looked outside our code is solid enough evidence of this.

It takes players 30 games to get up to speed of NRL. So judge him them

What has happened to Salmon? Trained as a centre in off season and still can't get a run there with MJ injured. Played his best game v Broncos and on bench for Raiders game as cover for Drown I assume.

Like someone mentioned earlier, I think he was signed on at an inflated price because of potential. I think our current offer is (hopefully) scaled back based on his actuals, not potential. I don't consider his form right now a world away from what it was last time he signed...
