Yeah that doesn't mean that a contract extension does not include an upgrade for his remaining years. Thar be shenanigans about Harry !

I know its not a good comparison because of their sombrero, but Sticky, Robbo etc all made the GF in their first years. Apart from that 2016 glitch, the Roosters have never been in a rebuilding phase.
Don't forget the 2009 glitch. They definitely rebuild.

Matterson hasn’t been released yet. Pascoe and Maguire were interviewed this week and said he would only be released if it’s a favorable outcome for the Tigers. I’m guessing a player swap.

Give them Alvaro and Taka

How long are you expecting this new second rower to spend on the field with Matterson and Lane on the edges? I’d say the vast majority of games both of those players play 80 minutes or close to it. Taka or Niukore are fine on the bench to cover an injury to either of those players and/or cover 15 minutes if they need a rest.

Recruiting another edge forward on more money than someone like Taka would be a waste of cap space. We may as well re-sign Taka as he can also cover wing, centre and 5/8.

I’d prefer that money to be spent on someone like Isaac Luke to give Mahoney a rest and provide some impact around the ruck.

However, an additional quality prop wouldn’t hurt to replace Alvaro or Evans in the 17.

Lane 64mins
Matterson 34mins at 2nd row and 20mins in middle

New 2nd rower 62mins

Evan's on bench 35mins RCG 35 mins
Another prop 30mins Jnr 40mins
Another 2nd rower 62mins
Hooker/utility 15-20mins for Mahoney

Leaves 20mins for Matterson or 30 if we give Brown a rest.

Do you want BROWN,LANE playing 80mins week in week out?

Yes not a perfect system, but compare them to the Hindy111 Panthers who always seem to be in a rebuilding phase ...

Pot calling kettle black. We have made final twice in 10yrs and got bundled out in embarrasing fashion both times.

People who argue the way we blew it in 2017 finals wasn't embarrassing need to rewatch that game. Never in it and short priced favourites. Steam rolled.

Gee I reckon the tigers wouId love your opinion on contracts, Reynolds, Packer, Mutalino........

While Peachey says hi......

And gee the sharks are having a lot of success finding space for Jesse......

The contract seems more favourable towards players. Take Lyon for instance. He was contracted to play for the eels and walked out. Nothing parra could of done to make him play for them. But there’s no way parra couldn’t of paid him his wages for no wrongdoing.

Bloody great example, Lyon couldn’t play in the NRL for a few years because the eels refused to let him break his contract. We forced him to play country footy then go overseas. I am pretty sure that wasn’t Lyon’s preference.......

We could have forced him not to play footy at all, but we were being nice...

Can’t see contracts being favourable to the player, it’s just like any situation when someone wants to break a contract.....

Nothing embarassing about 2017. We lost narrowly to the two grand finalists.

Plus this year we won by a record score in week one. Inexperience got us in the end, like the Storm when they got smashed in the finals in the early days of Smith/Slater/etc

I think our team will compete for finals for next 7-8yrs
While we have Moses and D.Brown.
Just hope we get lucky and can win it

This was a long time ago in a 'loose' salary cap era and when player managers weren't as influencial. I'm guessing if the situation was to occur today that Lyon would also remain on our salary cap at his full value for the entire length of the contract. This wouldn't be beneficial to either party.
