Rumours and Stuff

Once I see evidence our defence has improved and once I see evidence our attack has improved inside the opposition 20, other than via kicks, Im absolutely ready to jump on the "Eels 2020 Premiers" bandwagon. Im pumped and ready for that leap of faith but then again I have been these past 34 years.
We have a magnificent roster. Our theme this season should be "No Excuses".
Lets go boys!

We have one of the largest fan group in the NRL so articles about the Eels get a lot of clicks.

They dont have to be literary geniuses to get Eels fans to click on something.

Just out of curiosity, what constitutes proof?

Because (and I know this was just a trial) in the trial against Penrith, it was 4 tries each, and Penrith dominated possession, and only came up with 4 tries - this would tend to suggest that the side defended pretty well.

Metres gained were even, too, which would suggest that the ruck was controlled fairly well.

But the real proof, I suppose, will come in the Premiership rounds.

Winning the ruck would be a good start. Technique when defensive players are retreating from the ruck. An improvement in getting the opposition onto their backs. Gee Id even like to see coordination towards "one on one" strips that many other teams have perfected yet we dont even attempt. I suppose its a subjective thing but after watching both those elements to our game these past years I will know it when I see it.
Like I said, lets go boys. No excuses.

So the critics were right, our team has aides?

When you have 2 running halves on each side, along with quality edge runners, 2 of the best wingers and some handy centres, the opposition is always going to push up and try to shut down our attack, making a kick a bloody good option.

And it doesn’t mean our attack is poor just means we are playing to the oppositions weaknesses.

Am at the Elton John Conceet. The playing surface is totally covered. Very sturdy. Great stuff. Should be a great night. Hopefully Elton enjoys himself but not too much cause its "Our F'n Jungle".

BA said himself we are thin on outside backs. Unless he has a replacement or wants too promote Fonua I call bullshit.

We have Taka / salmon / parry as centre back ups . Parry / hunster / the dude on the rookie contract and potentially Smith / field as winger back ups. Plus Fonua

Field also provides fullback / halves cover.

Think BA said Field adds some speed to our squad.

We don’t really need to keep Gennings

He actually looked really good in the half dozen games I saw him in in reggies. But we know what he's like in firsts. And at his age there's probably little improvement to come. He could be a decent signing for a bottom NRL team but as a backup for us I'd rather have someone younger with more potential.
