Is that Crighton's side? Who do they lose to fit him in? I would have thought they were going ok without him. I call bullshit on this one.

They are going ok without him. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t go even better with him.
The rich get richer I guess.

They beat me to the punch. I was just thinking last night that if those figure from that article are roughly true on the salaries of our NRL team then we could go for Fafita too.

I mean, Terepo $250K, Evans $500K, who knows what Takairangi, Alvaro and Gower would also collectively amount to. But if you combine all these players wages up together surely it brings in around $1m, therefore we too could try our luck at bringing him to Parra. All these players add depth bar Evans and I'm sure that most of us would agree they wouldn't be missed if we swapped them for Fifita and then filled their slots with minimum wage recruits like the Roosters do.

If we could get a marque player like Fifita in our team, boy would it be a awesome roster. Imagine what someone like Fifita would do if he was in a team that had direction and quality to play off with the halves. He would add that X factor that we don't have at the moment and I don't think that too many teams would be able to match us.

If he were to move, why not Parra? We are one of the top 3 teams at the moment and our club and stadium setup is second to none at the this very point in time in NSW. So we just need to be smart and ambitious enough to give it a red hot go. He is an aspirational signing, but this type of superstar player should be exactly the type of player we should always be in the market for and have the desire and ability to secure. This is what the Roosters set out to achieve many years ago with the greatest success. I believe it is now our turn to do the same if we are going to be a serious player.

Well you'd still need about 500k for 4 guys to fill top 25 spots. I doubt Gower is on a lot more the minimum so save nothing. Terepo would be maybe a little but not a lot. So let's not count them.
Evan's would be around 300k and Taka I doubt more then 200k. Alvaro perhaps 300k as he signed when in peak form.
Question is do you want guys on bench who are on minimum wage? I reckon Terepo and Gower are about as good as you would get for the prices theyd be on.

Also while I'm at it, I would give BA this year and next to bring home the bacon. If he can't do it by then, I would go so hard for Trent Robinson if isn't funny. He is the only real point of difference between our two clubs at the moment. A coach like him delivers players like Tedesco and now potentially Fifita if he were ever to make the move when the money is roughly on par other offers. Also lets not forget sponsorships too.

Nick Politis delivers players like Tedesco, not Trent Robinson.

Hindy have you seen this arelicle? I am working off that.

I'm not saying to break the bank for him, but if we have the cash if we don't re-sign a lot of these depth players, then we should. If not we don't. But boy he would be such a signing. As for our bench we would still have Stone, Kaufusi and Niokoure. I would then move Lane back to the middle as he can also play there very well as he has shown in the past and make him the bench rotation with Junior and RCG or even swap him out with Fifita since he is so young and does still need a break.

But the point is that when players of this calibre become available, you don't blink and go for them, even if it means rejigging your roster somewhat. The Roosters do this all the time and don't fear it in the slightest. When you have the opportunity to buy the best, you do it and workout the details later. Even if it means pushing players on. Eg. Angus Crichton.

Roosters after David Fafita. Well of course they are.

Anyone think Cam Smith will do a Cronk next year? Highly likely. Their sombrero could stand another 2 x $1m players, after all they got rid of Mitchell so roster light by $2m.

Yes, but if the money is roughly the same, which for these sorts of players it is, other then the desperate crappy club that offers way more than all the rest, then the player looks at the setup, playing roster and the coach. At the moment they have us on the coach I would think, but the other stuff I would say we have narrowed the gap considerably if not completely.

Brisbane are ripe for the picking at the moment. Doubt their Brisbane $$$ would keep them there with the way they are playing at moment. There is something happening more than just a poor coach who has NFI.

The player I'd go after is Tevita Pangai and he would add more to our team than Fifita. Hopefully BA could get his aggression under control (just like he has with Nrown) and put him in the front row - and he would be cheaper. He can also play back row as well. His intimidating presence plus offloads would add more to our roster.

Fafita getting $1m would mean that he's on double what Ryan Matterson is getting. That's poor cap management from our POV, plus paying a non spine player your top coin is dumb (unless his name is Toumololollolo).

He would be a great acquisition for sure, but there are a lot of little issues in his game that also make him a liability therefore the difference in price. But I wouldn't say no to him at the right price.

I'd say the Roosters are offering a lot more than just the coach to entice players. They signed Jennings, Maloney and SBW before Robinson had coached a single game in the NRL. Don't forget Ricky Stuart had a great squad there too, and won a premiership.
