Rumours and Stuff

The biggest problem here is that it's mostly going to be his word against hers, as she never once sought treatment for any injuries, has no physical evidence, but she can have a friend of hers be a "witness" and that will be all she wrote.

Before I get accused of victim blaming, I'm not saying she is making all this up, If Semi actually did this stuff, there should be some sort of proof. If it's true, I'm totally on her side, there's no excusing it away, nothing she could have done warrants that.

Now, the thing that annoys me the most in these cases, why is it a big deal for her now? why not between 12-24 months ago when she's claiming this happened? I know if I was a woman, and my boyfriend/husband/whatever hit or even attempted to hit me, I'd be out of there so fast I'd leave a smoke trail behind me, right to the police. But now that they've separated, all of a sudden it's an issue that she needs to go to the cops to.

That's the indicator that it is for revenge rather than a concern for her welfare. As you also said how the hell do you prove or disprove this so far out from the alleged incident? Victim blaming is a label used to shut down rational arguments and always believe the woman by default. For all anyone knows Semi could be the victim here. The delay in reporting is going to make it very hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt but if she has the hard evidence go for it. Erin Molan's rant well and truly jumps the gun to suit an agenda. Everyone knows that if he is guilty he will never play again

Isn't it an amazing coincidence that two of the big rugby league clean skins in Foran and radradra have had their reputations destroyed this season. I'm saying a silent prayer every morning and night for Tim Mannah. Surely they can't find any sort of dirt on him.

The Greenies will sort out Tim Mannah - he'll be mercilessly labelled a homophobe because he got married in a church ceremony that indicated marriage is between a man and a woman.

It'll break him mentally to the point he becomes a sobbing Hindmarsh.

Gooorne.

But that it EXACTLY how it is going to look. You know full well, everyone will say for "welfare reasons" *wink*

How do you know that Semi won't take it that way? That could do more damage than letting him go about his business as usual.
Who cares how it "looks"? The poloce certainly won't be taking that into account. And the impact of how Semi "takes it" is a matter for the Club welfare team to decide, as they are the ones with a legal duty of care for Semi's ongoing welfare.

Let's say you or I found out today that we'd been charged with something... I'd be wanting my employer to give me the flexibility and (paid) time to deal wuth that - getting the requured legal advice, talking to family and friends and other people for support, tesearching the next steps etc. No way would I want them drmanfing I be at my desk, handling my normal duties or meeting my usual deadlines etc - my mind just wouldn't be on my job.

Semi's no diffrrent - and even if I demanded to keep doing my job (as a way of pretending things are normal, or avoiding having to face what lies ahead) I'd expect my employer to take me aside and say that's not possible for a few days until things settle. Don't stop him coming (back to) training, and don't stop him hanging out with the team in the sheds - just don't let him play the day aftet arriving back (jetlag) and finding out he's charged (and thanks to the media it's all public).

That all matters more than what something looks like...

Its not just Greenies that think marriage should be for every type of couple OMC.

Well over 50% of Australians belive in marriage equality - welcome to 2016 :D.

IDG for two years??? One question. Why???

What if he wanted $120-150k for 1 last year?

We made an offer of $80k and $75k - so he gets more cash over 2 years, and the 2nd year we're not bound to him in the top 25 (but of course if his form is strong to the end of 2017 we could upgrade him an extra $5k to bring him back into the top 25 for 2018).

Essentially the way to sign star players is to get first graders on the books for minimum salary - or as low as possible. And older first graders tend to be the cheaper ones - looking for that one last payday.

Doesn't always work out (signed: Webb, Carl) - but if it is a player from your own club who has a good work ethic (IDG), then it is worth a shot.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what they paid DeGois - just presenting a scenario which easily explains why it makes sense to offer an older guy 2 years over 1 year.

Why offer him anything??

The bloke is well past it, him and Pritchard as our dummy halves next year is pretty underwhelming. Especially after letting someone like Peats go.

Evidence?

The plebiscite proved it (or will it? dun dun duuuuh)

phantom: clearly my post was 100% serious.... (but whatever % are in favour, the Greenies are the agitators aren't they? Hence using them as the prosecuting group was funnier. But if it ever was funny, it now isn't because I've had to explain it in painstaking detail...)

FFS omc you don't know how much the club offered! You just make shit up to suit your argument. You're a club apologist and you can't prove the club aren't paying him overs you looser!

I don't think the Greenies are the "agitators" omc. Lots of people I know want marruage equality, but wiuldn't go near voting Green.

Marriage equality cuts across all political keanings, and all sections of socuety... except perhaps the deeply religious.

But yes, attempted funny on cleanskin Mannah is recognised!

And that worked out fantastic with Watmough. I could maybe see the worth of giving him a year deal on the cheap but 2 years makes no sense at all.

Watmough was different wasn't he?

Brought in to be a marquee player, certainly not brought in on the cheap...

As I said before, IDG might have wanted $150k to play next season.
We offer $80k for next year and $75k the second year, so he is ONLY on our books for minimum next year (ie, frees up $70k), but he still gets the contract he was after, just plays reserves the following year (or sits it out injured etc).
