If if if
I aint missing nothing. We still lack leadership and experience. Someone like Finucane would bring that. If we are willing to offer decent coin to Brown, we clearly want someone else other than all the names u mentioned in the squad. Otherwise we wouldnt of even offered him a deal. Cant always reply on our juniors, its got us fkn nowhere in the past.
1981-86 wasn't bad for all our juniors. We've produced good juniors but except for the period above they've mostly been only 1 or 2 every so often. Perhaps the next best period was about the middle 2000s when Hayne, Mateo and Inu all came on board and we've lost plenty to other clubs.

On the Tip Sheet podcast, Joey Grima recently discussed his 2004 Harold Matts team that included something like nine future NRL players and four Origin players. They might've won the comp if we'd been able to keep them together.

Since last winning the comp we've also bought external players, does that mean we should be giving up on that too?

I'm happy to find the right players to win us a comp, whether they be local juniors, juniors brought in from outside the district, or buying external first graders. I don't think you can say we should do more of this or that, it needs to be more free-flowing. Like if you don't have juniors coming through you aren't going to not buy external recruits. Just like if you do have a junior coming through who is capable of first grade you probably don't go out and buy someone in their position.

To make a hard line stance either way isn't what a professional club should be doing.

I 100% agree. I never said we should give up on our juniors, i said we can’t solely rely on them just because we have a big pool to choose from.
I was talking about hindy111 saying we have all these young blokes, and some new squad depth, that we could choose from instead of going to market to replace Brown. Imo with all the depth we have we do not have a ready made replacement.
Roosters and Storm barely have any juniors and they get through just fine. Its all good management.

I still think if a more experienced campaigner came into out pack it could prove very fruitful. That could only happen if we lose someone.
Penrith did it with Tamou. Tigers are trying it with an older Tamou and we tried it with a finished Choc.

Haven't we already got it with RCG and Junior? They are both 27 (RCG 28 in a few months), which I think was the same age Tamou was when he went to Penrith.

So 100% of ground capacity able to be used for Round 4. Would be nice to have a packed BankWest on Easter Monday. Pity it's a Tigers home game, we'll be wearing awful jersey's.... Or will we? If they're wearing their predominantly orange strip then maybe we'll have to wear our home Jersey. That'd be nice

I don't care if we wear dresses - as long as we play well.

I like producing juniors. But I count unearthing guys as a junior also. We wanted Mahoney,Stone,Niakuore,Sivo. Their clubs didn't.
And I would also say putting faith in lower tier signings like Gutherson,Papalì isn't far off producing a junior either. Yes we know they are NRL level. But most never thought they would be as good as they are. Hardly big name signings at the time. Id say excellent talent spotting.

I find buying already made stars a bit boring. But every club does it at times. You have too.

So that is our balance. I reckon it is a great balance. Some big names, some juniors, some unearthing off other clubs talent and some guys needing a 2nd chance.
