People are banging on what about the storm or Penrith losing guys. Some on here are dillusional. One has made two consecutive grandfinals and has a title. The others been the best side form10yrs with multiple grand finals wins.

We haven't even gotten to the game before the grand final. This is why we are copping it. To think we will have long term success based on the fact Penrith and Storm let players go zi don't get. Sure its possible but I won't be suprised if we end up a bottom 5 side for a few years again also.

Anything to deflect away from what’s happening at Parra, because everything the club does is amazing and every decision is spot on.

You make 2 GF’s in a row and win one and the cap will bite, maybe the cap is finally starting to catch up with Melbun as well. But with just 2 finals wins in 5 years and a spoon it shouldn’t be happening with us. Or just maybe the squad was better than some would have you believe and the coaching staff weren’t good enough to get the best out of the roster???? 🤔

The point is that shit clubs are gonna want to sign players from less shit clubs so they too can be less shit.

That means that less shit clubs will lose players they'd otherwise seek to retain, and that extends to the top clubs as well.

Yet 'cause we have lost a few ( just like the top clubs ) we seem to be getting hammered over it from the press and our own fans.

Being one of the top clubs means you'll have more desirable players, so you'd expect there'd be higher demand for their players coming off contract, but it also means you're a more desirable destination, so players are more likely to stay, so on average would cost more to poach.

Fact is good players will be targeted, and clubs like ours who are not quite there are easier targets than the top tier clubs, on account of the top clubs offer more intangibles, like better odds at winning a premiership.

Plus the fact that for 2023, there's an extra team in the comp. The simple maths of the situation mean that the existing teams, on average, are going to lose players at all levels of ability, and replace them with players who, on average are not yet quite as good. Unless, of course, we believe that the addition of the Dolphins will magically and instantly add to the stock of NRL-quality players.

We had an outstanding roster last season and in my opinion capable of winning the big dance. Management of our roster, bench and workloads weren't ideal. Then of cause there was that extended period when we couldn't have beaten the Cesnock Goannas and nobody had a clue why. Even our most loyal forumites were jumping off the BA Bandwagon. I like our 2022 signings to date. Definitely a strong chance again but have we improved on and off the field? Will our future departing players be focused?
Its very exciting.

I think we're complaining about the sensational headlines of doom and gloom whereas Storm have lost more quality than us for the next 2 years. As regards, gf's etc that's another story.

The caravan moves on, but the dogs are still barking. Watch for Mahoney to have a big season in 2022. He is a professional player under contract for the coming season. He doesn't become a dish licker until 2023..then he is another Club's problem. Could he be Bulldogs "Ash Taylor"...only time will tell.
In my opinion, the Eels have a stronger team in 2022 than last season. The 'kids' all have that extra season experience under their belts, and the Club has made some strong additions for the new season. I like the addition of Rein and Simmonsen, and Curtis Scott adds strike power if the goose eliminates the off field behaviour that has given him the reputation of being a 'dick head'. Surely, if he is registered he knows it will be the "last chance saloon"...and unless he wants to chip burrs or dag magotty sheep for a living, he'll wake up to himself.
The way the team competed in the 2021 final series gives me plenty to look forward to in 2022.
I will worry about 2023 when it turns up..
I am tipping a player like Ky Rodwell to develop into a handy first grader in 2022. Any way Que Sera Sera..."There ain't nothin' I can do about it now"...

Sure. But people are complaining why the Storm or Penrith haven't copped it from the press. Reason is they are major success stories.
We have done next to nothing. We will have a crack in 2022 but come 2023 where do we stand? The Bulldogs will be in a far better position then us. I would bet on the Warriors and Tigers also be atleast level.
2023 maybe the acid test. If BA gets them firing then we eat our words. But I am not convinced come 2023 the wheels fall off and we spend 3 years put of the top 8.

They don’t cop if from the media, as they aren’t as well supported as the eels and don’t sell clicks like the mighty eels do!!

No one cares about the Storm or panthers…..
