Whilst I generally agree with the “don’t mortgage the future”, there also comes a point where you can’t just keep building. Kaufusi is a first grader but he won’t be a difference maker like Junior and RCG can be, and especially not in the next couple of years.

I reckon it doesn’t even need to be that much more money, if any. But he’ll have way more chance at game time there which enhances his ability to claim more money in future contracts
The problem is Gronky Kaufusi and Stefano were also our future gun props and where are they now. No guarantees in this game. Oregon for maybe $350k Eels dollars V Junior probably $800k Eels dollars. Youth V experience. Its a big call for a development club. Time will tell.
Start to come good is exactly it. As I said above not mortgaging our future for short term gain is all well and good, but we also shouldn’t write off our current situation to improve Kaufusi’s future.

For sure, he’s much better than a 25/30 min player. He’ll prove it at the Sharks but he won’t be pushing two of the best props in the game from starting position.

Yeah probably but wasnt RCGs contract mooted as $850 per season, $250 of which payed by Gus. It is interesting how there has been no media reports of Juniors contract. Using Poo logic, Id say we paid overs as a result of media and fan pressure.

Another signing I didn’t agree with from the start based on him as a person and his history. Massive dickhead.
I cant say I was aware of any of his issues but it appears it was no secret. I thought originally that we paid way too much for him but thats how our recruitment was prior to Bernie initiating a professional approach. Ill never forget his 2018. Reserve grader at best that season. 2019/2020 were improved but now we question why.
