All true but I back him to get it right. He will rejig and properly fund the development pathways that have been neglected at the Dogs for a number of years now and a big reason as to why they got into trouble salary cap wise under Hasler and Co.

Give it 3 years or so and they will be legit contenders.

Gould took 10 years to get it right at Penrith but he had to be sacked first for Ivan to finally get the juniors to perform to their potential. Will he be sacked at the Dogs before the players finally perform to their potential?

How does the Tax work? My accountant told me sports stars have a special tax as their careers are a short span so they don't get hammered. I think it may be a flat rate

Averaged over 5 years and pay tax on average. Works well when your pay keeps going up but when declines you're now paying tax on a higher wage then what you're earning.

Had Xmas drinks with some Parra staff yesterday. Apparently we could have locked up Ice very early in the year for less than our final offer but we f**ked around. Universally acknowledged that retention/recruitment screwed that one up. He is a top shelf person too. As is my man, Dylan Brown.

Rein is dynamite from dummy half. Has been up there with the best of them in commitment/fitness. Ultimate professional. He will be our 14.

Spoke to a player who did re- sign, said initially very difficult as MON had an inflexible position and was surrpised how difficult it made negotiations. Seems Isiah’s manager decided to take the Tigpies offer rather than stuff around, bit of a black eye.

Having said that, Reed and his manager can fornicate elsewhere.

Anyone drinking with Avenger would be subject to the same biases as any other dope. Footy staff would be no different. Of course they think they could have gotten him cheaper earlier. They don't need any proof. I'm glad we didn't rush to pay more money to some merkin after half a season of good footy. It shows we aren't desperate, which is what will make us successful in the long run.

Isn't Scott's defence a bit suspect? Both Peninisi and Blake (now) are fairly good with their defence now as shown in the final against Penrith

Defence is Scott's strong point. That and his speed.
