So Kidwell and Murph selected the side?? lol
I don't think so and that's not what I said, they made the call as to whether he was a suitable replacement for Moses, nothing to do with the rest of the side.

Rankin was the main player maker in reserve grade in the games I saw, JA made his kicks and his tackles and ran when he saw an opportunity. While Moses was there with him playing the back up role like he was in reserve grade I was fine with.So you’re ok with Jrthur getting the magic round game but believe that off the back of that Rankin thought he was zero chance of playing so decided to not go into bubble?
Again I ask, do we need a player unwilling to fight for a spot in our squad?
I’ve got no qualms about Rankins choice but you lot making him out as the messiah when fans everywhere else call him Jordan Rancid need some perspective. Jrthur may prove to be no better, or even worse, than Rankin, but last season neither of them were ever going to be the tipping point on 2nd week/3rd week and certainly not premiership
BA never selected him, he said in an interview when it came to his son he left his assistants to make the calls.

I think you should delve a bit deeper.Rankin was the main player maker in reserve grade in the games I saw, JA made his kicks and his tackles and ran when he saw an opportunity. While Moses was there with him playing the back up role like he was in reserve grade I was fine with.
My problem was when he was given the keys to the team when he hadn’t even showed in reserve grade he could do it all the while we had Dylan Brown with 40 odd games under his belt and a few as main play maker last year. It was a shit call and reeked of nepotism, Rankin knew he was no hope so decided to stay home and who can blame him for that???
I agree he shouldn’t have played that extended second stint, but just because he was wearing 7 doesn’t mean he was “given keys to team”. In those 3 games, Drown had more touches, except the Canbra game. Did BA just give him the keys for that one game?Rankin was the main player maker in reserve grade in the games I saw, JA made his kicks and his tackles and ran when he saw an opportunity. Probably didn't know who you were.Soooo, I saw BA on the beach on Xmas day on his own. He got into the water right beside me and guess what. The merkin wouldn't talk to me. I should have known.
And deadset this is like arguing over who should be in team, Sandow or Luke Kelly. Neither Rankin or Jrthur are anywhere near 1st grade starters, but at least the one who got games has time on his side to improve.
That seems unlikely. (He was easy to recognise in his parra footy shorts though)Probably didn't know who you were.
You can make jokes about them. But firstly you’re off your face if you think he isn’t even reserve grade standard, secondly Jrthur and Smith were both under contract in 2021 so please tell me how one affects the other, and thirdly having Jrthur in the squad with his dad coach potentially means either or both are costing less than otherwise, might not be as successful as the Chin duo but a dollar saved is a dollar more we can spend elsewhere.Well you are missing the whole point. It would only be like that first sentence if one of Sandow or Kelly got in the team because his dad was the coach. I seriously doubt JA would have even been in reserve grade except that his dad was the coach. I also doubt JA would have gotten a contract ahead of Will Smith for 2022 but for his dad being the coach.
That is why we see jokes about JA (which are really about his dad) on this forum.
Depends what we needed from the backup. Arthur has a better kicking game than Smith.I would've thought ws was in front of ja
You're not actually comparing apples with apples. One is a utility while the other is a specialist halfback. One is very experienced while the other is not.It is also dubious that JA got a contract while Will Smith did not.
I'd say Rankin and Arthur were comparable players. In that case when choosing between the two why not take the added advantage of getting some development time into the youngster?By the time the game moved to Qld Rankin knew to pretty much certainty he was not getting a look in regardless of what happened or what he did.
I thought so too until I saw Arthur's performance in reserve grade. He was well ready for it, and he performed better than I expected in first grade as well. But you can't blame backups for not performing to the same standard as the players they replace. It's why they're backups ffs. Jordan Rankin would probably have shat himself in first grade, which is why no NRL club has given him a run since 2017.I seriously doubt JA would have even been in reserve grade except that his dad was the coach.
