Hopefully just metaphorically. It would have been embarrassing if he actually shat himself.
Off topic, but somewhat on topic when talking about athletes shitting themselves while performing... is anyone familiar with Rob Di Castella's story about the time he was running a marathon circa early 1980's where he ended up winning and during the race, was seen to be grabbing those big sponges drenched in water that were handed out to runners to cool themselves down, and rubbing them on the back of his thighs...Post the race, other athletes started wondering if they should follow suit, thinking that Deek was on to something and trying to keep his hammies cool during the latter stages of the marathon, when in actual fact, Deek confessed that he had sharted several times during the race and was merely wiping the feaces off the back of his legs after it escaped the gusset!!!

The first I saw of JA was that trial game which was a mix of grades and he appeared to me to be about under 19s level. He was bad. Did you see that game? Not good enough at all.
Players that age can improve massively in a short amount of time. It is older and more experienced players that show diminishing returns in growth. This is why clubs prefer younger players in nearly every case.

Just a case of a dude who wasn't NRL level until he was at his peak as a player. For middle forwards this is late 20s, by which time most guys who aren't already top 30 give up and get a real job. But there are plenty of young players who aren't good enough for the NRL, but would be when they hit their peak, who stop playing before they get to that level.

I think a lot of players are about reserve grade standard and they don't ever get an opportunity to play reserve grade. It is a very wide standard. He should have spent the start of the year in 3rd grade (whatever that is) and played his way into seconds.
You honestly think he isn’t in the top 82 halves in the country?

True. Hopefully he improves like Andrew Johns rather than Willie Peters and thousands of others. et al.

Does he need to be anything like Andrew Johns to be good enough? He only needs to be as good as Chad Townsend to be good enough to win a premiership.
