Rumours and Stuff

Tennis seems to being doing OK with hawkeye.

The issues with forward passes are more complex.....because of the rule. It would be quite easy to determine whether the ball travels towards the opposition try line. But I suspect that what a lot of people currently interpret as 'the motion of the hands going backwards' will come up as a forward pass. Measuring the direction and velocity of the passer, the hands and the ball at the precise time (the instant of passing) is going to be tricky.

Well they seem to get the physics ok with ball tracking in the cricket. It takes into account trajectory and swing.

Hasn't NSW gone from no centres to a ridiculously talented crop.

Lomax,Best,Tago,Penisini,Kotoni, Critchton.....
I'm sure there is a few more I may of missed but that's some real talent.
And none of which will even get to play for NSW again this year unless there is injury, because of Tedesco, Mitchell and Turbo and that 2 of these 3 can play better at centre then any actual club centre at the moment.

Only article I’ve seen is saying he’s on our shopping list.

At only 25 and having only played for shit clubs, he might be better than some people think.

At his best he is a fantastic centre, but has he still the desire to get to his best again? Who knows? Time will tell.

But that's all still relative to a fixed point. They don't have to take into account the movement of the guy who bowled the ball, because it is irrelevant to all modes of dismissal.

Apparently we were in for Tristan Sailor prior to his charge.

with him just being acquitted of all charges, I wonder if we’ll be making a call. More upside then Marsters, and likely cheaper too
Yeah we tried to sign curtis scott who had a more chequered past so its not like we would have no issues.

Match Fitness may be an issue.

Plus i would love to see wendell's reaction to us if we give his son a chance. He has never really rated us as a club previously.

Brooks is a solid first grader. Plenty of worse halves have won premierships.

He is reportedly on $900K. Not solid first grader money mate. So the criticism is justified at that price. He accepted the money so now he should accept any criticism that comes his way if the media and public don't think he is playing to that price tag.

A solid first grader is on $200-300K and if he plays like sh*t then is dropped or moved on and not many people make to much of a fuss over it. But when paid like an elite half and not delivering you suck up the sh*t you are given or else give back the money and walk away.

Oh he hasn't done that? Well then in my book it is a professional sport so it's open slather and learn to deal with it sunshine.

Do you count Maloney as elite? I don't. He won premierships with Pearce and Townsend. Keary and Reynolds won a premiership together too. Reynolds was never elite, and if Keary is elite now (I don't think he is) he certainly wasn't in 2014. Cherry-Evans is elite now but was he in 2012? I guess Foran probably was back then.

Every one of these guys you mention are or were way better then Brooks and way more consistent and all have played for their State or Country. Brooks though isn't even close to those sorts of representative honours.

Whether he could get to that level of consistency with a better team around him, is only conjecture at this point and no one really knows? Maybe, but then again maybe not. As a 7, he doesn't posses the all round game control I like to see in a 7. His execution sucks big time at times or loses sight of what to do or where to go on the field for the next play. But then again, with better coaching and better players, who knows. But at the moment he is bordering on sub par level performances, with the occasional highlight here and there. If he wasn't on such a high salary I would have dropped him to NSW cup ages ago. In fact I would have released him already. He obviously needs a change.

How often does a game get decided on a forward pass? I reckon its rare. Some are 50/50 and hard to tell. I like having the human element in sports and accept at times you may get the wrong decision. But that's fun, it makes you either laugh if its a positive for your side or angry if not. Take that away and it becomes a little plastic and boring.

This tech will really stuff up the Storm who love a "flat" pass.

Anyone else think that this concept is odds on to go completely pear shaped?
Dunno. I wouldnt mind if my balls were technology embedded.

But yeah ... it will just be more shit that ends up questioned .... and cam smith will still get his technology embedded balls called backwards

Likewise, Brooks would look as good as Moses if we had signed him instead. I reckon the two are in the same class. Brooks has won Dally M halfback after all.
I agree. We actually needed a half who would take the line on more than Moses does. I know Moses' kicking game is excellent, but apart from that Ive always thought he was the wrong fit for us really. Until last Saturday, when Dylan Brown finally broke through the line to set up that try and generally cause havoc with the ball in hand. If he can keep doing that, then Moses is perfect at half-back.

perhaps, but being acquitted doesn't mean he didn't act like a dickhead

exactly this, NRL is a totally different situation and the player passing the ball is in motion and sometimes running quite fast and that momentum will propel the ball forward to an extent

unless they come up with some algorithm that allows for all this in its modeling, I just can't see it working

it's not a situation like other sports and I don't think can be compared to them

If you could accurately measure the forward component of the ball's velocity (as opposed to just its speed) it could be done. Just compare the forward velocity of the ball prior to passing and again as it leaves the hands. If it doesn't increase it wasn't forward.

You have old balls that don't bounce anymore.
