I note Dantoray didnt play yesterday.
So we are playing a kid, JA, who has no future in the halves, to get experience in NRL for a position he has never played? If thats the case it opens up the coach to all sorts of criticism.
Jake is filling a hole in the roster, that’s all.

well that’s my point. I’m not sure how long he’s signed for, but how can we make a call now? He may improve or even decline.
I'm thinking if we do match huge money for Moses we won't want to do it for more than two years. Lesser clubs might offer four and let him become a 2027 problem just for the chance to have him for a year or two at his peak. From the player's perspective it could be his last huge contract. If he has to negotiate again at the end of 2024 (as a thirty year old) he probably won't get as much as if he could swing a four year deal at the end of this year, aged 28. They say athletes are a long time retired, which also applies to how much money they've put away.

No team can win the comp if you lose your best players.
Correction, no team can win the comp without a great team. Yes that needs to include great players, but if you have too many fringe first graders on the field at once you're not winning anything. The trick is to overpay for as few as possible and underpay for as many as you can.

He likes him as an operator, as he is clear cut in what he wants; but he finds him hard to deal with, because he won't budge from the figure he has in mind.

This is great to a certain point, but unless you are the sort of club that can keep players for less and or attract ready made high quality replacements for the lower price that you won't go over, then you are cactus and will almost never get into a position to win a GF. So your inflexible approach is hardly much better if at all better then paying a little over for the most important players in the team.

Hasn't hurt DCE. People pay for quality. They have very similar effects on their team and field. We would be mad to let him go. He is also a very sellable player. Probably the best looking player in the game. Well spoken and a clean skin. If we can't line up a TPA for two for this guy, wink wink. then MOM and Co are useless.

Hasn't hurt DCE hurt Manly though, since he signed that big deal they haven't really been fighting for a title.

Thanks scoop. Remember we are a development club. We should always have good players, but we need to hold onto the great ones. ;)

That logic isn't good.
Moses is easily the best half back we have had since Sterling and it is a position that is very difficult to come up with even competent players. Whereas we have had a multitude of more than good enough fullbacks in the last 15 years. It is pretty easy to get good fullback play.
Gutherson is just very replaceable whereas Moses is not. I would pay overs for Moses.
You're missing Gutherson's leadership value. A strong club isn't just about the total player talent in the group. There is an essential element of leadership that can be impossible to replace. If you've ever worked in good teams and bad teams you would've seen this clearly. Leadership is a real thing, separate from management. People like TheRam, who've never been part of a team or experienced any success in life, fail to understand this.

I've been told that we rate Dantoray Lui a better long-term half option, than Jake - Jake is playing in the halves now, t get his NRL experience, but once he fills out his body, he will likely end up an edge forward...
Is Lui really rated that highly? He's either 19 or 20 this year and not even on a full time contract.
