Not sure we can count Jake not getting on the field in round 2 as evidence of anything given he had symptoms of appendicitis during the game
Surely, he would have had symptoms during the warm up and ruled out with the 18th man coming into the side.

Training there, is different to making changes to the NRL side to accommodate JA getting game time….

Anyhow if what you reckon is correct, then surely you must agree its a masterstroke by BA, putting a rocket up Drown!!!! The threat of playing centre and being replaced by JA during the game now has him in career best form……..well done BA!!

He trained there, for the reason that if there’s a single injury in the backs, it gets his not ready, non talented, slow and robotic son into the game

Oh and not for a minute do I feel Dylan is threatened by JA. Maybe the form of Dylan is associated with ennis.

With HIA s now so common I think it's wise to carry a guy who can cover 1-7 in the squad. The more I think of it the more I like the idea of Perham perhaps being used.
Marata actualy makes a huge difference to the squad however as he can fill in centre.
Remember rnd 1 Marata was missing along with N.Brown
In rnd 2 JA didn't come on.

It will be good for JA to be back in NSW cup and I would like to see him have two full seasons there before we see him again. As I mentioned earlier he may be the perfect kid to have in your top 30 for 12yrs and always be a back up learning the system.

I think we have to do three things to JA over the next offseason.

1. He needs to go to a sprint coach and his whole offseason focus should be spent on improving his explosive speed off a standing start. 2. We need to train him at Lock and only lock for the 2023 season and beyond and model his offensive game on Yeo and Radley.
3. We need to feed him 1000 chickens a day and extra hours in the gym to physically bulk him up and ready his body for the forwards.

Now if those things happen and he shows he has what it takes to be a middle forward, we leave him there for 2 or 3 years and see how good he gets. Like I said before, I think if he has a future in the NRL it will be in the forwards, but he needs to fill out and have a strong and faster leg drive to make it there too. We need to stop wasting his development time in a position that I see him having very little future in at the top level.

He's only played one game this year and that was off the bench as a cover for backs, so you guys are sledging an 18yo (now 19) backup half who played 7 games last year due to injuries of both Brown then Moses and one this year because Russell got hurt. If this was Dantoray Lui , Josh Chappell or Ethan Sanders you'd by cutting him some slack because he's only young.

Let's admit there's an "i just don't like the coach" agenda here so we can all move on.

See heres another one pointing at forumites "sledging" young Jake. Ppl are not doing any such think. Ppl are refering to his selection not his talent. Everyone wants to see the kid develop into a superstar but that would be difficult if hes not ready. Develop him and coach the shit out of him. Then when hes ready go for it.
So far as ppl liking or disliking the Coach thats BS as well. Ppl question his tactics, selections etc. Just like you critising Lane etc. Im not sure theres a person here who hasnt praised BA at certain times. Ffs Gronky enjoy the ride and stop insinuating facts not in evidence.

We should go balls deep for Milford imo. Would be great cover for halves and fullback and a dynamo off the bench. The perfect utility.

If we got him earlier and he did a full off season with us I think he might have been worth the punt and he may have been revitalized as a player playing with us being such a strong club that he can just come on and run without having to worry about any of the game management stuff whatsoever. He may have really excelled.

But unfortunately now with him not having an off season, the lazy little fat butter ball that he is and his notorious aversion to training, who knows what sort of condition and speed off the mark he has left?

i appreciate the response but wanted to hear your opinion. Would you of selected him round one?

I’m assuming the journeyman you refer to is rankin? Or is it Bryce? Matto could of covered halves if need be for round one. Bryce could of come onto the bench as a forward.
Dont pick on Captain Rankin. Hes perfect to mentor young Jake as he has done to date.
Cant wait to watch him rule again on Monday.
PS. It looks like he was pretty sh*t last game so he better pull his socks up.

So who should have subbed for Moses and Dylan when they were injured last year ?

As for round 1, the coach (in the absence of Marata) should have opted for a forward as cover for backs instead of Jake ?

Josh, I’m sure BA has already said that Dylan had trained in the centres in the offseason. I assume when he trained in the centers JA was training in the halves. Isn’t that enough evidence?

or he wanted Dylbags to get some time in the centres in case BA had an injury to one of his players and had to shuffle his halves around during a game, to compensate

Very strange to carry an (average) half on the bench in case there’s an injury. Even stranger to shift your starting half into the centres. Why not just carry an outside back on the bench, to ensure minimal disruptions

having the half probably gives him more versatility, can also play hooker, etc

never known a team to carry an outside back on the bench

Seems to me that people are bagging his talent...

you want me to sugarcoat it and simply say he’s not ready? Maybe some should except this is as ready as he’ll ever be, and despite how hard he trains in the offseason, he’s simply not good enough.
