Tbf i know some penrith fans midway through 2019 were at there wits end.Actually their strength is their willingness to let go of their expensive players to create space for others. Blake, RCG, Maloney, Mansour and Tamou were on huge money. Our fans would've spat blood if we'd let that calibre of player go without winning a premiership. Luckily Penrith have no fans to generate any media pressure.
Team looked like it was going nowhere and they looked like they going around circles.
Under Gus they were releasing players early mid contract because he found a new toy/young kid.
Then after 2 years they would be gone and another kid come along and the cycle went on for about 6 years.
Penrith actually bowed week 2 of the finals in three consecutive seasons 2016 to 2018 and had horror seasons on the front and back end of those seasons in 2015 narrowly avoided the spoon and 2019 missed the finals.
Penrith's record in the period between 2014-2018 is pretty similar to our record between 2017-21. Only difference is they made one preliminary final and we got the spoon in our solitary season of complete failure.
