No, the English Rugby comp have changed the cap rules so that you can only have one marquee player outside the cap (instead of two). Nothing to do with his form.
Yes I read all that and know they changed the rule to one only marquee player per club.
However even though he is still producing the odd great moment, he apparently isn't dominating the way he used to. So he either is just coasting and not to interested anymore or mentally cautious and or worried due to his knee. I don't know however how down on form he really is and if so why. I don't watch Rugby, I just read that he was out of form compared to what he was before.
Also his club is in salary cap trouble and they are looking to get rid of BOTH their marquee players not just the one to abide by the new rule.
Since the initial reports that Bristol had Salary cap issues they have dug their heels in and now are saying that they can keep both because they signed them before the new rule came into effect. We will see where this ends up I suppose.

The explosive superstar, who is one of Bristol’s two marquee signings whose salary falls outside the £5m cap, returned to action in December but has looked a shadow of the player he previously was, touted by many as the best player in the world before his injury.
