Imagine adding Semi to this squad for the remainder of the season! He is available and we do have a roster spot available.
A merkin said to me this AM that the Dolphins were after him.

TBH I find it unlikely that Semi would not go to France or Japan to get his $1.5m+, rather than take a haircut and play NRL.

Ummm…. Drown?

I think Moses’ decision making and cover defence are above average but front on defence he’s below average.
I thought we were comparing genuine 7s. So now Cameron Munster, Jack Wighton etc are the in the mix ?

Wait, you're trolling right ? Moses defence is below average for a half ? Type it again, so I know you are for real.

Cleary,Brown,Luai,Munster,Hughes,,Walker,DCE, Burton, Townsend...... I dunno list all the halves.
These guys are all better defenders then Moses. I'd say of the 32 halves in Comp he is in the bottom 10 in defense.

It’d be incredibly fortuitous. He’s not available yet and I reckon his preference would be to stay in Euro earning billion dollars a year, but I’d be on the phone to him offering him everything for the rest of this season so he can keep fit before finding another billion dollar contract for next year.

Even though I advocated for us to sign him earlier this year for a cameo appearance at the backend of the season, I am not so sure now.

With his recent knee injury he was meant to be out for 16 weeks but came back a month earlier and since coming back apparently has been a shadow of the player he used to be. Maybe they stuffed up royally and rushed him back way to soon and the injury really did need the full 16 weeks for him to have the strength back in it and now he is suffering the consequences. He is their captain and best player and they play like crap without him and thus their desperation and maybe pressure on Semi to come back early.

So now he is not winning them games like he used to and they have also run into salary cap space problems and need to shed players. I obviously wouldn't be against the idea for signing a freak like Radrada, but if we were to go down this path I would have our independent medicos go and assess his injury personally to figure out what exactly is going on with it and is it something that rest or a new cleanup surgery will heal correctly in time for us to make use of him at the pointy end of the season for at least a month before the playoffs so he can acclimatize, if that is in fact his issue.

Whatever happens though, I don't think any NRL club will be able to afford him for a long term contract with so many other rugby clubs willing to sign him, unless he himself has had enough of Rugby and Europe and wants to come back closer to home and maybe win an NRL premiership. But the odds are a cameo is the best we can hope for once the Euros and Pounds start flying around. So if that were the case we have to make sure that he was up to it or it could end up worse then SBW last ordinary and laughable NRL stint.

No, the English Rugby comp have changed the cap rules so that you can only have one marquee player outside the cap (instead of two). Nothing to do with his form.

Yes I read all that and know they changed the rule to one only marquee player per club.

However even though he is still producing the odd great moment, he apparently isn't dominating the way he used to. So he either is just coasting and not to interested anymore or mentally cautious and or worried due to his knee. I don't know however how down on form he really is and if so why. I don't watch Rugby, I just read that he was out of form compared to what he was before.

Also his club is in salary cap trouble and they are looking to get rid of BOTH their marquee players not just the one to abide by the new rule.

Since the initial reports that Bristol had Salary cap issues they have dug their heels in and now are saying that they can keep both because they signed them before the new rule came into effect. We will see where this ends up I suppose.

The explosive superstar, who is one of Bristol’s two marquee signings whose salary falls outside the £5m cap, returned to action in December but has looked a shadow of the player he previously was, touted by many as the best player in the world before his injury.

Hahaha

Moses is a 500% better defender than Walker.

he’s also no worse than Luai, Hughes, Townsend.

if we are talking Halfbacks only - I’d put Cleary ahead of him, but have no others above - only inline with him.

his missed tackles are also very very rarely costly as he makes good first contact and often stops the player so the tackle is completed by the centre or second rower.

he came to us as probably the worst defensive halfback, he’s now easily in the top 5 imo.

Yeah I reckon most halves are fairly similar in defence. The “better” ones just have better front on defence, but mostly the gap between the best defensive half and the worst isn’t much

Interested to see what happens when Sivo and Russell both back. Simonsen seems to be a long term lock based on length of contract but I’d be tempted to have both Sivo AND Russell. Such different players with brute power vs real speed and smarts on the other side.

I'm giving Simmonson untill rnd 10 before I decide. But he is improving.
