Its not just our junior league areas, the club cant rely on buying players (rejects from other clubs looking at our NSW cup team) and expecting them to fill void of injured players. We need to start having players and teams develop together.

I know we pinched the 5/8 from the Dragons who is in Flegg but apart from him do we ever sign a player that is wanted by their current club.
Well the Storm and Roosters manage it year after year. Their junior rep teams aren’t full of kids from the local comp.

The Panthers mostly recruit local kids into their junior reps, but they still spend big money scouting in country NSW and NZ. We obviously don't spend enough to get the best ones. Look at our Flegg side since 2017 ffs.

I think given some other factors, particularly captaincy, $800k is a fair price, so some above value payment. I think you’re being a bit harsh at $600k, but let’s say the $200k over for captaincy (also back up goal kicker, “Origin”, etc). A lot of clubs cop this captaincy tax.
The big problem I have with Gutho’s pay at the moment, and maybe now I’m being harsh, but his onfield captaincy, at least, is shit. So that captaincy tax is sunk cost at the moment. On top of that Junior is also now captain so make of that what you will

Gutherson is solid. But I can not think of a game where we needed something extra to win and he stood up. Same goes for Moses. Down by 4 with 15 to go lets say. Can you recall a big moment where they just did something gspecial to win it?

Yeah after 36 years you’d think we are due for a bounce FFS!!
The number of years only matters to the fans. From the club's perspective whatever happened more than a few years ago is ancient history. The current board, CEO and GM Football weren't even here during the 2018 season.

Yes I am. This is it for us and that's just my opinion. I do not see us getting stronger in 2023.

Dogs,Saints and Broncos are all on the way up. Exciting young guns and hungry. Our squad is getting older, slower and weaker.

You have your own thoughts and strategies and so do I. As I said once we lost Mahoney I woukd of blown it up and re set in 2023. Re shaped the squad for 2024 and kept hold of Dylan,Pensini and Moses as the building blocks
*Sharks, Cowboys and possibly Titans as well.

Well we do have three teenagers in our top thirty. That seems to be pretty high. But the junior rep teams have crashed since their peak in 2017. After that we got new leadership with a focus on governance and financial viability. Looks like only the clubs that can afford quality junior recruitment systems can have one. Covid-19 hurt the PLC and we don't really have any other source of revenue. Who the f**k is Aland?

Let's hope our Flegg and Nsw cup sides are competitive today. That's probably a good sign.

Seems like Hollis is back in Flegg. Any news on this guy? Seems to be going backwards. I thought he might be in NSW CUP most weeks. And getting large minutes.

Only the coaches son is fast tracked for grade.

With 15 to go absolutely. We’ve won games being down in that timeframe. If you’re more asking as a final play type scenario then no, but neither can I really say the same for Trbsjenvic or Tedesco or even Cleary (goal kicking aside). But then Ray Stone = yes. It’s not a good metric.

It’s an 80 minute game so if we’re winning games then it’s reasonable to assume they played well enough for 80 in most of those games.

When it comes to leadership though, it’s not when you’re winning games or within distance with 15 to go, it’s all the time and it stands out more when you’re getting towelled up. Gutho’s efforts last week weren’t leadering. Handing off (slowly) kick returns to Perham and getting into tickle fight with Feldt when we’re getting pumped and not trying to get back while they score another try was piss poor. Throw the short dropouts against Newcastle and Wigers in and it has been a shit month for Gutho
