If Papalii (or his management) made sure there was a "get out" clause in the contract, should Maguire/Cayless of whoever was important to him be sacked, then he'd be well within his rights to request release from that Tiges contract.

Otherwise, he's signed it and (should be) stuck with it. (But it would be great to retain him at the Eels, and I suspect his form would improve instantly if that were to occur...)

I enjoy deriding anyone who thinks there’s a simple or obvious answer. I enjoy having Papali’i in the team but he’s not good enough that we should entertain paying overs. Moses probably is though, in the sense that he might be impossible to replace. But then that really depends on Dylan Brown and how much we have to pay to keep him. One thing for sure, if we lose Moses our kicking game will be significantly worse. But our defence will probably improve. It’s never simple.

I hate this reneging on deals shit. If we didn't value him high enough at the time he signed with the Tigers, then that should be our problem, not the Tiger's. Merkin should see out his deal for everyone involved.

Yep, I'm with this. If the change of coach at the Tigers was ever going to be an issue he should have stipulated that in his contract. Every man and his dog knew that the Tigers coaching position was dodgy at the time he signed.
