overall looking at the big picture I believe the eels realized they f’ed up. They’ve signed all our aging forwards and let the youngsters go. Much like you’ve stated in the past.

the eels have spoken to papa, about reneging and he’s agreed. The one thing stopping the deal is Nrown and his contract for next year.

Eels have demoted brown and told him to look elsewhere, the same time papa is having doubts. Coincidence? I think not.

I don’t think anyones leaked anything. I think Riccio woke up Monday morning and realised he didn’t have anything to give his boss so went to Sports “Journalism” Dot Joining 101.
It’s a cut n paste story from the other half dozen times it happens every season where departing player tells current teammates he wants to stay with them but also tells future team he is committed.

Edit - I also reckon how all that plays out in reality is the players don’t talk to each other about it at all except the occasional joke, but if someone asks the teammate always says he wants to stay. And the future club definitely doesn’t ring up desperately seeking confirmation the player isn’t reneging. They have a player liaison call them to “touch base”.
