No Wicks? I'm not arguing as I tend to agree he's falling down the pecking order.
He's very versatile - he can play long minutes, works hard in defence, and can attack out wide - but he's not good enough at any of them to be a top 17 player in our pack. He's a very good man to have in the top 25, especially because he apparently provides good leadership.

Agreed. Geez, Wenty's prop rotation consisting of Wicks, Terepo and Matagi is going to be mighty impressive

Wicksy retires.

FRONT-ROWER Danny Wicks has quit the Parramatta Eels and retired from the NRL just three months after signing a two-year contract extension.

The 30-year-old forward informed coach Brad Arthur and his teammates of his decision on Monday, having just returned from his off-season break.

The Eels are now talking to former Penrith and Canterbury Bulldogs enforcer Frank Pritchard as a possible replacement in the Parramatta front-row.

Wicks returned from an 18-month jail sentence to make his NRL comeback at Parramatta in 2015 and played 32 games.

“Danny has made a wonderful contribution to our club in the last two seasons both on and off the field,” Arthur said.

“He just went home, got married and decided not to come back. Danny’s not driven by money or ego. He’s just a genuine all-round good Aussie bloke.

“We’ll miss his footy but we’ll miss him more as a person. A really great bloke.

“He had a point to prove and he proved it and he’s now ready to enjoy the next part of his life with his family.

“We support that decision and wish him the best.”

Wicks’ manager Steve Gillis confirmed the former Dragons and Knights powerhouse would be retiring from the game altogether.

“He’s keen to return home and live in Yamba and enjoy life,” Gillis said.

“The grind of city living didn’t agree with him. He has a wife and two young kids and wants to spend more time with them.

“He came from almost impossible circumstances to play in the world’s toughest competition having not played for four years. He can be very proud of himself.”

The Eels expect to announce the signing of Pritchard later this week.

Wicksy has nothing left to prove, go and enjoy the rest of your life with your family.
He's been to hell and back and came out the other side a better person.
Thanks for the year of commitment in the blue and gold.

What he said, except "Thanks for the 2 years of commitment in the blue and gold".

Seriously, one of my favourite players over the last 2 years... and a good bloke to have a chat with as well.

Turned his life around and turned out to be a brilliant bargain buy for the club.

Disappointed to see him go but wish him the best of luck.

Sucking piss in Yamba for the rest of his life, could think of worse things.

Sure he signed for 2 yrs and his body is fresh from lack of games.
Id say more if other clubs ask or if a UK club knocks on door.
*cough* Stick to the Panthers forum Hindy:)

I hated the signing. I was proven terribly wrong. He turned up with a great attitude and gave his all every game. I wish him luck whatever he ends up doing.
