Sad to see Wicks go - he made more of a contribution than Watmough to our club.

So long as he's retiring on good terms and its his choice then you can't begrudge that and best of luck to him.

Now I get why we are going/need to go after Frank Pritchard...

He gave his all every week. Can't ever say he didn't put in. He seems like a nice guy and good luck to him. In terms of our playing stocks - he was a stock standard prop. Didn't seem very skilful - just had a big heart. Not a major loss imo.

Won't have to put up with him dropping the ball twice a game now.

But seriously, good on him. I would have liked to have seen him go around again next year, but can't blame the guy for wanting to hang it up.

Wow, didn't see that coming!! Wicks must really have hated city life!!

Thought the next two years would have given him the chance to set himself up a little bit.

Seems like a strange decision, especially after negotiating a new contract.

Makes sense now why we were chasing Matagi.

I'm confused about the NRLs position on drugs. SkyNews saying that Barba tested positive for cocaine after the GF. They say that he is facing 12 weeks ban.

Yet last year (?) a bunch of players tested positive for ecstasy after mad monday and received counselling.

Were we chasing him because we knew Wicks was leaving or did he leave because we were chasing him

recreational drugs in the off season, ffs these guys aren't robots

anyway, good luck to Wicks in his retirement, Yamba will have a decent starting prop next year

if only they had a RL team

Wicksy seemed like one of the best blokes on the team. Listening to his interviews I always thought he would be a great bloke to have a few beers with. Like a few others have said, with our new signings I didn't see him in our top 17 and that might have been a reason for the retirement. Good luck to him surfing and cruising up in Yamba. Just watch out for Sharks mate!

Gee bit of a surprise to see Wicksy hang up the boots, while he may have struggled to crack the top 17 each the club has lost a great bloke and a leader. You could tell every time he was interviewed what a great bloke he was and what it meant to play RL again.

Enjoy retirement in Yamba ya lucky bugger it's a beautiful part of the world it really is.


PS - Barba really does have the IQ of a gnat.
