If last night was us “turning up”, I hate to think what will happen next time we don’t turn up.It’s not just about not turning up. We definitely turned up last night. It was the first game this year where we scored first and lost. We were just outclassed.
Merkins are probably disappointed that the Broncos being shit wasn’t the new normal after all. But they are a very wealthy club. They should be challenging for the top four every single year. Look at all their Origin players.
I’m not even factoring in how Brisbane performed. Brisbane were ok and this season are basically on par with us from last couple of seasons. The problem is with the things we can control.
I’m willing to accept that our defence frailties are the payoff of our attacking “advantages”. I’m willing to accept we’ll lose more/sign less “stars” than a Roosters or Storms.
I can’t accept that our defensive frailties are compounded by our schoolboy level tackling. I can’t accept that the game plan, right or wrong, can’t be stuck to for more than a week. I can’t accept that a team that had values around accountability is questioning a single ref decision in a game we conceded 36 points in, in a season where we are conceding 22 points a game.
I stated awhile back somewhere in the BA thread that he should be retained so long as he is a safer bet than the unknown alternative. Even factoring in all the “luck” you say we specifically would need to win a premiership, can you honestly say the future prospects of BA helping that luck is more likely than another realistic alternative?
Edit - and not just BA but several of the senior players
