It’s not just about not turning up. We definitely turned up last night. It was the first game this year where we scored first and lost. We were just outclassed.

Merkins are probably disappointed that the Broncos being shit wasn’t the new normal after all. But they are a very wealthy club. They should be challenging for the top four every single year. Look at all their Origin players.
If last night was us “turning up”, I hate to think what will happen next time we don’t turn up.
I’m not even factoring in how Brisbane performed. Brisbane were ok and this season are basically on par with us from last couple of seasons. The problem is with the things we can control.

I’m willing to accept that our defence frailties are the payoff of our attacking “advantages”. I’m willing to accept we’ll lose more/sign less “stars” than a Roosters or Storms.

I can’t accept that our defensive frailties are compounded by our schoolboy level tackling. I can’t accept that the game plan, right or wrong, can’t be stuck to for more than a week. I can’t accept that a team that had values around accountability is questioning a single ref decision in a game we conceded 36 points in, in a season where we are conceding 22 points a game.

I stated awhile back somewhere in the BA thread that he should be retained so long as he is a safer bet than the unknown alternative. Even factoring in all the “luck” you say we specifically would need to win a premiership, can you honestly say the future prospects of BA helping that luck is more likely than another realistic alternative?

Edit - and not just BA but several of the senior players

You have to also wonder why we went to the Central Coast. We had just won two games so our season was back on track kind of. Had we won last night we'd be talking possible top 4 charge.

When I first read about the trip away I thought this is odd. I then thought that BA is trying to ease some friction/heat between players and needed to have a bonding session on a personal level with the team. It didn't see, right.

This is all suspicion but certainly possible the squads divided.

Agreed, I thought it was an odd move. We’d just come off rare consecutive wins. We’ve been utter rubbish when we’ve had a different lead up.

For whatever reason we've been poor ever since we relocated to Queensland during COVID. We've not been the same team for the last 12 months since we arrived there. Now that maybe coincidental, because we were also poor at the back end of 2020. But it appears to be when our issues started.

Forget origin. Jnr, RCG and Matterson are being paid more then every Brisbane forward bar Hass. So is this poor management by us by over paying them?
Who's fault is that? If they lack aggression and determination then they aren't worth more then 450k. We know bother are on over 600k.

Our issues is we don't ask questions. We arent evolving as the season goes on. Brad prefers safe players over exciting and dangerous. And he has built a grinding boring side.

Coaches matter. Why the Bulldogs attack has gone from terrible to exciting. Different perspectives and choice of players.

Next week BA has to put Blake to wing and Opacic to centre. Simmonsons times up.
Guth id move to centre and throw Russel in. See how he goes.
Bryce for JA and Brown for Makatoa.

Marata also needs to be put at 2nd row and Papali'i off the bench and playing in middle.
With Guth and Opacic in centres with Marata and Lane our defense will stiffen up.

Russel may flop. But if doesn't he may bring some suprise to opposition with little time to work hpout how to defend him.
sounds good but cant see our cut and paste coach doing at least one change unless it's an injury

We haven’t been the same team since Jake Arthur was parachuted into the side.

Last year was Felise kaufusi fault

He hit Moses in the back in Origin that made him miss a month of football and top 4 was down the drain when he came back.

That doesn't explain why it has continued this year though. We could have reset like we did at the start of 2021. We clearly didn't.

Dunno mate, which is why I’m not pointing the finger.

I’m not blaming the players. They have their shortfalls but are doing their best. Just like the coach.
So if the players are doing their best, and the coach is doing his best, and we primarily have the same team this year as we did last year, why was our for and against for the first 19 rounds last year +220 and for the last 27 games in the last 12 months it is -88?

Why was roughly the same group of players, with the same coach, the 3rd best defensive team in the comp for the last two years, now the 11th best defensive team in the comp?

The Storm buy wingers. The good ones are as rare as the good players at any other position. The Chooks bought Ferguson and Brett Morris. WTF are you on about?

Of all 16 teams 2 haven't one winger in top 17 they developed.
We are one of those teams along with Warriors.

Sharks,Penrith,Cowboys,Brisbane,St George,Souths all developed both. So 6/16 developed both.

To break it down there 20/32 starting wingers have been developed by their club they now play for. That's 62.5%

We don't have one of those 20 currently.

Who are you claiming as the Storms two wingers in their Top 17?
