Dunster is injured.
Does that count?

And just because I call you out on something doesnt mean I disagree.
We should be developing more players for sure.

Are you convinced he would be in our top 17?
But I guess between him and Russel it counts as both I think offer more then Simmonson. I still feel BA purchased Simmonson for a starting spot.

Yeah, Dunster would have been Fergo's replacement with locally developed Sivo on the other wing.
Simmonson was puchased as backup and unfortunately, we have needed him since round 1.

But the difference between you and most of us here is that you don’t want to do anything about it. We’ve had turnover of players and we’re still no closer to a premiership. It’s time to go in another direction with our coach (as well as the player turnover we’re already going to have next year and future years).
Agreed. And watching non-Eels games over the past few weeks, we're now coming back to the field and on par with the likes of the Dragons, Raiders and dare I say the Warriors.... I think collectively all of us in this forum thought our team was a level or 2 above the also-ran's and not without reason.... But now, and I posted this exact same sentence I'm about to after we lost to the Sharks and beat (actually won the game) v the Titans in Round 1, I feel like we're as far away as we've ever been from a premiership and drifting further with the current coach in charge. Don't get me wrong, he got us close in years gone by, but that's well and truly in the past....

Because I don’t think anything can be done about it in the short term. That’s why I go on about resources. It’s now up to people outside the football department to increase the money available. As fans were don’t give a f**k about that stuff but that’s what pays for the on field performance and makes it sustainable.

Why would any team have taken us lightly then at any stage in the last 2 1/2 seasons then, given we've been in the Top 8 for virtually the entire period across 3 1/2 seasons?
Nobody was even aware of how long we’d been in the top eight until about 12 months ago. That’s about when the league world forgot about the wooden spoon and started taking us seriously.

You'd hope our intention when buying someone for 3 seasons from another club that we didn't expect him to ever play reserve grade.
If a dude provides value over three seasons why not give him a contract for that long? Longer contracts provide certainty for everyone. Also I see Simonsson as more of a fringe first grader than a genuine backup. Like Opacic and Cartwright. The form of others can determine whether these guys play reserve grade.

I think we’re out of form, but still won a few games during that period. Don’t let recency bias cloud your assessment of the team and coach though. We are solid, and I expect us to finish top six. It’ll be a bad sign for the group (including the coach) if we miss the eight. Maybe sacking the coach would be required to shake the merkins up, but that’s expensive.

lol, great source

some people hear what they want to hear
It’s not just about not turning up. We definitely turned up last night. It was the first game this year where we scored first and lost. We were just outclassed.

Merkins are probably disappointed that the Broncos being shit wasn’t the new normal after all. But they are a very wealthy club. They should be challenging for the top four every single year. Look at all their Origin players.
As opposed to pauper’s like Parra?

It wouldn’t have been expensive if we didn’t rush to re-sign the merkin last year.

You're just making up shit because you've got no evidence to base anything on. Your comment is close to the stupidest thing ever said on this forum.

It's ridiculous and pathetic to suggest that a team that has been in the Top 4 twice, and the Top 6 twice, 4 of the last 5 seasons has been taken easy in the last 2 seasons by anyone other than maybe Panthers, Storm, Roosters, and Souths. I'll also let you have Manly.

What's your actual evidence that the other 10 sides would've taken a team who had been in the Top 4 twice, and the Top 6 twice, 4 of the last 5 seasons, easy in the last 2 seasons. It's absurd.

The fact is, the stats have indicated we're the ones who've started taking teams lightly.

FMD...I thought I'd heard it all.

I think this is as close as Pou will ever get to criticism of the club and/or coach....

You've grown today Pou......

Still a merkin though
