Player succession plan.

We need to start to rebuild this roster as well as pissing off our well and truly cooked coach and his team of no body assistants. The only assistant I would keep is Ennis and only because he gives us media cred.

Back to my main point.

We need to rejig the roster and I don't care who we let go other then our 6 and 7 and 8 and 10 and probably in that order.

I would make a massive play and I mean massive for the next superstar in waiting Joseph Suaalii. Around $1.2m+ and TPA's it could go as high as $1.4m

I think if we did that it would be very hard for the Roosters to compete money wise considering all the other stars they have in there lineup and need to look after.

He is only 19 years old and already in the top 10 players in the NRL. If he continues in the same vain(trajectory)and I can't see why he shouldn't baring injury, he will probably be the number 1 player in the NRL by the time he is 22-23 years old. All the other current super stars will be getting older too so he will be coming of age around then and killing it like no one else. Think of how Inglis, Hayne, Turbo or Latrell were at 18-19 and how much they improved by the time they were in their early 20's. He is a born leader too. You just see it in his temperament.

Pros that may get him here are he is best mates with Penisini and he comes from the West so is not adverse to the area and it doesn't hold a stigma to him like it might do for other Rooster types. His whole family still live out west.

Cons that may stop him from coming here. We are Parra and we don't think like winners, so we wouldn't even consider such an audacious signing. We are Parra.

I would make this offer right now seeing that he has a player option in his favour for both 2023 and 2024. If we did by some miracle sign him, I would tell Gutho to find another club immediately unless he wants to play NSW Cup all next season. There is no place for him here anymore and any other players that need to be speared to fit him in.

This is the way you restructure your roster and bring in superstar players whenever they are available, in positions that you need a superstar player in. Otherwise we will be stuck with a mediocre team that has no X factor player or genuine game breaker when the chips are down that we can consistently rely on. Suaalii is such a player and as he matures will become one of the best leaders in the NRL too. You can see it in his temperament.

We need to seriously take this approach and make it happen no matter who we upset or lose frankly. He is the player that we need to build this club on for the next 10+ years. If we don't we will struggle, guaranteed for the next 5 -10 years to find a star of his note. A Turbo, Latrell, Teddy type of player. He is the next off the rank. The only reason he isn't already signed up and unavailable is because of the funny circumstances he left the Rabbits and frankly it is an embarrassment that we didn't make a huge play for him then. Not saying we would have gotten him back then, but we should at the very least made a very competitive offer to at least be in the picture, but nothing at all that I can see.

Speak to his manager and see what type of offer would persuade him to leave the Roosters and come over to the Eels. Everyone has a price. The question is can we afford to not find his?

We need to start behaving like a winner. The road to failure is littered with excuses.

No excuses!!!!!!!!!
What position would you play him?

Our biggest issue is jnr development. Who have we produced in the last 3yrs who is a genuine top 17 NRL PLAYER in our side?

W.Penisni. And right now he is just a fringe NRL player with potential. It's the worse of any NRL CLUB.
Centre of excellence? It's the worse state I have seen our juniors
it is hard to believe but Manly produces better juniors than us.

Eels: want to fly Moimoi's family to the game for a milestone match for the big man.

NRL: it counts against your cap.

Souths: want to fly Mitchell to the USA for experimental treatment for his injury.

NRL: all above board - nothing to see here.

I f**king hate the NRL. It's a joke.

How about the ring for Barb Smith?

I don't recall that going on the Storm's cap...

I'd be shocked if BA had the balls to make such changes, but imo, the side I listed:

Has a better person for a leader (Matterson is well-spoken, and has great values, as well as being someone who sets a good example)

Offers more versatility in attack

Offers more punch off the bench

Gives Mahoney a rest

It's a no-brainer to me, but I doubt Supercoach changes a thing.
can you repost the team. I didnt see it. Matterson as captain is an interesting idea.

His future is secure at The Chooks. Hes not going anywhere. Uncle Nick would have his future life financially planned . The Chooks only lose who they want to lose generally.

The Roosters have seen:

Michael Crocker (in the midst of his Origin career)
Latrell Mitchell (as above)
Peter Cusack
Mark Minichiello
Bryan Fletcher

Move to Souths in the last 20 years, or so - their most bitter rivals.

Granted, they bend the rules better than most - but it's not impossible to pry a player away from them.

What position would you play him?

Fullback, minimum 5 year contract $1.2m.

A spine of Suaalii, Brown and Moses is all based on outright attack and great defense. A great spine to build a team around. Most players that look at that spine will view it favourably and then all we need is to sign a coach that knows how to use them the best way and knows how to build a squad around them. None of this one dimensional bullsh*t crap. With a spine like that then all we need to make sure is we focus our attention on defense like the Cowboys did this off season. With a spine like that it shouldn't be to hard to convince a decent up and coming dummy half to come and play at the eels either. With a spine like that a premiership is possible.

With a spine like that I would sleep at night before a game feeling confident of victory. With a spine like that I would sleep.

With a spine like that nocturnal erections would be common place. With a spine like that I would need to change the sheets in the morning.

With a spine like that Bones on Bones would be fun again. Oh with a spine like that....

I like it. Russell needs to get fit in a hurry. Paulo off the bench could be hard core.

I think our best front row has both RCG, and Paulo, starting; but when they go off for a break, we lose a lot of power up front.

Campbell-Gillard is a better defender, and therefore a more valuable starter imo.

We might be able to start both Paulo, and RCG, if we had some impetus off the bench, such as Greig/Ogden.

I put:

1. Russell
2. Sivo
3. Opacic
4. Gutherson
5. Blake
6. Brown
7. Moses
8. Campbell-Gillard
9. Mahoney
10. Niukore
11. Lane
12. Papali'i
13. Matterson (c)

14. Rein
15. Greig
16. Paulo
17. Cartwright
Why not? It's so out of left field even Gronk would approve. It beats what we put on the field on Thursday.

Also - what does El-Zakhem have to do to get a First Grade gig?

In 2022, he's averaging :

14 hitups per game
135m per game
30 tackles per game at 95% efficiency
57 post-contact metres per game
6 linebreaks in 15 games
39 tackle breaks in 15 games

And he has scored 6 tries in 15 games
