Respect the honesty.
I just find declining to support this a strange stand to take compared to aspects they haven’t taken stand against
My opinion is that this may be more cultural and also do we actually know what religion these players follow? Are they all Christians or are there Muslims within the mix? We know from Haneen early in the year she abstained from the pride round due to her faith and her standing as an influential person within the Muslim community. They are obviously a very close community that strictly follow their law. Alot of these player are Pacific Islanders, their culture and views on sexuality may differ to what believe. The elders would have a massive influence on these people.
There seem to be 2 sides of homosexuality promoted, the love side and the sexuality side. It's no shock Christians believe in monogamy and sex is confined to marriage. Now just because that doesn't get lived out perfectly by those of faith, it doesn't suddenly mean they have to promote sex outside of marriage and celebrate it. I feel Christians just simply need to own up to the fact they can't live up to the standard they want to. It's why Jesus says not to judge because we fall and fall often. When it all just becomes about sex though, I'm not sure anyone would be surprised by Christians not participating in promoting it, whether homosexual or hetero sexual, a person of faith has a different view to the sex than the rest of the world does. Jesus even says looking with lust is the equivalent of committing adultery. The standard is too high for us to fulfill thus why we have faith and cannot earn our salvation because we basically suck at living out a holy life.
The rainbow maybe confusing to some people of faith, is it promoting love or sex or both or a persons identity? I am ok with anyone who has same sex attraction, I'll love and treat you the same. Do I have to celebrate your sexual life, not really, that's your own private matter just like how I live my own. Yours shouldn't concern me and mine shouldn't concern you. Should you as a gay person be vilified and ridiculed, no way, should you have the same rights, absolutely. Do you if you have no faith have to live as one who has faith? Obviously you choose what path you want.

Again, I haven't got it sorted, my views have changed over time and I'm probably rambling.

Not in the slightest. If you don’t believe in a community of some sort, are you going to voluntarily show support to them by wearing their shirts? And if you don’t, does it make you a hater?
It's not a belief system or chosen path mate.

And that is the point. When people say things like you just did, it shows we still have a long way to go to get true acceptance for who they are.

Reverse it for a second and think about your statement from a heterosexual point of view. Would you like people not believing in your 'communities' way of life?

I don't think that would sit right with you and your 'community' somehow.

One of my good friends is very Christian.

He had sex with his girlfriend before marriage (they'd been together at that point for 6 years, and got married 2 years later).

He didn't feel guilty; he explained that he loved his girlfriend, and this was a physical demonstration of their love.

When he spoke to his pastor about it, his pastor echoed his sentiments.

This same friend of mine is openly accepting of homosexuality. He rationalises it by saying that God loves all his children, and even though the Bible is often quoted as the source for decrying homosexuality, my friend says that God would prefer to see people treat each other with kindness, compassion, and respect, than follow the Bible to the letter of the law.

I commend him for that.
X2. Been married 29 years. I don’t think homosexuals will go to hell and I accept them. However I can’t cop entitled self serving idiots who try and change the world for the majority who built this world, the system and everything they use to better their lives.

Melbourne have been asking around everywhere for the past 2 weeks for a player.

What are Parramatta doing sitting on there hands and just accepting the squad atm.

It would be nice if the club was being pro-active for a change and still looking at improving there squad 6 weeks out.

Even an extra bench forward or backrower for a 6 week stint from a club not playing finals would be handy.

My wife's family is very Christian.

My wife's aunty (my wife's mum's sister) is gay.

She, and her partner, decided to raise kids about 19 years ago.

My wife's mum was upset at this, as she believed that gay people shouldn't have kids.

Those two kids are some of the brightest, kindest, most compassionate people I know.

And my wife's aunty, and her partner, are so amazing, as well.

What really struck me is that my mother-in-law is lovely, but she really struggled to accept her sister, just because she's gay; she states that her sister should choose to follow God's path.

I, for one, can't stand this notion that people should follow the path that YOU believe is the right one for them.

I've always thought that religion is a great vehicle to put you on the path to being a good person, but that it's a guide.

My mother-in-law's sister won't be decried by God for being gay.

Same vibe.

The Bible doesn't say anything about abortion. The objection to killing unborn people is the same as the objection to killing people who have already been born. Surely she doesn't think that only Christians are against murder. It's not a religious issue. It's a question of who is entitled to be legally protected by the state against murder.

And I say this as someone who is pro-choice.

Let’s just say that some at the club don’t want him pushed out. At least not this year.
Why should he be forced to leave this year.

He did the whole pre-season with the squad.

He has earnt the right to finish the season especially if we can get to the finals and may be required.
