I think he’s worth more more than when he signed with the Tigers. Back then he hadn’t shown enough for long enough. It was risky partying him like a proven star. Look at Mahoney and Niukore. The Bulldogs and Warriors likely paid too much.

That said, f**k him.

Marata has had a very poor season. At his best however I don't think he is worth more then 450k

Mahoney's weaknesses are being exposed and his strengths are being limited. A small body and not the greatest defender with a very poor run game for a Hooker.
His strengths are smart passing and putting forward into gaps. That's very rarely happening anymore. He has 5 TA vs 13 last season in 3 less games Missed more then double amount of tackles 67 vs 31 with 3 more games and average 7 less run meters a game. I am confused why people want to call Mahoney elite as a hooker.
Average defender and a very ordinary run game. Yes he has crisp passes and good service from dummy half an quite smart reading the game. But for me the elite hookers need to be top shelf defenders and have spark engaging defense like Cook,Korisau,Grant.

If we offer an upgrade you know this mob won’t be paying too much (which is why I doubt he’ll stay - he was motivated by money then and that won’t have changed). But the reason we might offer more now is because the player is less risky than he was in November.

Will even what the Tigers have offered might be too much. What if their offer is $700k or more? If our initial offer was $400k we might be happy to go to $500k or $600k. It still might be less than what the Tigers have offered. Maybe the Dolphins have offered even more and that’s why he’s trying to get out of the Tigers deal.
