Arent Qantas fairly pricey? They have been cancelling heaps of flights.
Not sure....
The point I was trying to make was that if we extended Drown on big money for 2024 and beyond, in addition to having RCG, Barlow, Gutho and Matterson on big money, then we might struggle to offer the big money it would take to secure a Moses or Burton if the cap stayed at its current limit. But if a bucket of a million or more suddenly becomes available then we have more room to move and up an offer... Barlow, RCG, Matterson and Gutho have all extended long term so we won't need to find extra money for them between now and their retirement/next deal... Unless of course their mgmt had prior knowledge about cap increases for 2024+ and negotiated incremental increases each based on that, but surely the club wouldn't be stupid enough to agree to pay these guys more in their declining years at the back end of their contracts...
And I know people will say "We CaN't ScrEw oUr CaP by SiGNinG 2 hIgH PrIcEd HalVes FFS!!!" - well I say why not give it a go? We're going on 37 years without a premiership, gotta try something otherwise we'll likely need to just settle being a 6th-10th on the ladder side for the next 5 years...
NotedSure , but you don't have to have prior knowledge that the cap is going to increase to include a ratchet clause in the contract though. This is more common for star players. See Nathan Cleary's deal signed this April, which includes to provisions to increase pay in line with the salary cap. So it's entirely plausible that most/many of the high value players at each club have such clauses going into 2023/24. This is partcicularly likely given the shock to the salary cap that occured in 2020. Anyone contracts initiated/renewed in that year faced massive uncertainty about the value of the cap in future years, and it would clearly be in both the player and the club's interest to deal with that by including a ratchet clause in deals.
We can do all that on LU ffsI got off them also. It's basicaly Adds , snap shots of people's best moments hoping for a likes and people giving personal opinions on things they know little about.
I reckon Hughes would be on less than Dylan Brown is on next year, likewise with Luai.Melbourne with Hughes and Munster.
Both combined (Munster/Hughes, Cleary / Luai, Moses/Brown)they are probably similar.I reckon Hughes would be on less than Dylan Brown is on next year, likewise with Luai.
Haha no qantas are grubsArent Qantas fairly pricey? They have been cancelling heaps of flights.
Not really, they are struggling to keep Munster. At the moment Munster/Hughes are on similar to what we are paying Moses/Drown, maybe a bit less.Melbourne with Hughes and Munster.
Also Harry Grant DID NOT appear in the top 100 paid NRL players thing last week, so that means he gets paid under $500k. Needs massive upgrade that merkin. Not really, they are struggling to keep Munster. At the moment Munster/Hughes are on similar to what we are paying Moses/Drown, maybe a bit less.
It’s the next contract which is big money, where they are struggling to have two big name halves…
Additionally, they will have a pretty “cheap” pack with “no names” next year compared to the eels…
Thanks for the correction, great nightI was there too and it was definitely 2005c.
I'm interested to see who the Storm end up with in the forwards next year. Two Bromwich's, Kaufusi, Smith departing and at this stage just one replacement in Tariq Sims, who will cover one Bromwich. Welsh returning can cover for the other Bromwich, but I suspect they will need a couple of others. I read Haas is on their radar. I can't see Bellyache paying him what he wants and puting up with his crap. Not really, they are struggling to keep Munster. Welch, NAS, Grant, King, Sims, Eisenhuth, Kamikamika isn’t terrible but yea they probably need another edge forward…like us.I'm interested to see who the Storm end up with in the forwards next year. His new contract starts next year, I think. Would have to be looking at a massive upgrade. Also Harry Grant DID NOT appear in the top 100 paid NRL players thing last week, so that means he gets paid under $500k. Needs massive upgrade that merkin.
Probably, but we are talking about 2024 and beyond. Drown will definitely get more, and Moses won’t get any less. I’m talking as a percentage of the cap. And the Storm might be unable to keep Munster. Both combined (Munster/Hughes, Cleary / Luai, Moses/Brown)they are probably similar.
They have the highly rated young gun Jack HowarthWelch, NAS, Grant, King, Sims, Eisenhuth, Kamikamika isn’t terrible but yea they probably need another edge forward…like us.
So, illegally?Dogs have tabled Burton basically 900k a season. On the open market I reckon a desperate club like Newcastle,Dolphins,Titans,Tigers woukd throw him 1.2+
The thing is I can guarantee Gould would have 250k TPA lined up for him. It's how he creates great squads imo.
