Whoever he is would be unlikely to be ready for NRL next season. Bateman for 2 years would probably see him through in Australia.

We have Lane, Cartwright, and Matterson, who can play edge forward.

We only need someone to play cameo minutes to increase our physicality.

Mataele is a big boy at 19.

We appear to want Matterson to play in the middle and the coach won't play Cartwright on an edge if the game is in the balance.

We have Lane and a position vacant.

We also have Hopgood to play middle.

Hopgood to me is your 65minute player. Doesn't seem like a real bench type. We need two more forwards.
We need to replace Makatoa,Marata,Kafusi,Papali'i, Stone and probably N.Brown.
So far we have Hopgood. I'd like Makatoa to be sitting about 2nd forward to be called up if injuries. He is to far up the ladder.

Bar Tevita and Mataele I don't feel we have a lot else. Greig hasn't progress, either has Hollis. Rodwell and El.zakhem might be handy toilers but I don't imagine much else.

It's an interesting thought though. We certainly can put the finishing touches on a forward/bring out their best, but I can't think of one we have nurtured from a baby into being a real goer in first grade. Maybe Jnr, but he had to leave to realise his potential. Oregon just can't seem to take the next step. Aloiai, Alvaro, Twal Keppie, Stefano, right back to Pauli Pauli have not really made it with us. Hopefully this next crop will start to break the cycle.

True, but even Pennys have not been able to field forwards from local juniors.

Just like us and Dylan Brown or Rheed Mahoney, many (most?) are recruited at SG Ball level outside their catchment from NZ or QLD or Darwin or NSW Country.
