Don't listen to him. Both are coming along fine.

Both will feature in the club's futures IMHO because they are old fashioned footy players. Both are still young FFS.

Sure. Yates may he is young. But signs aren't great. I mean he wasn't in Nsw cup best 17 when all fit. That's not a good sign.
Hands is like 22 or 23 soon. Again not old. He may shine. The odds are higher that he will be a very very average NRL player if gets there but.
The good kids are in NRL by 20/21. Yes we've been over and over the late bloomers. But how many late bloomers are that great? You get the odd few like Walker and Cook. Majority but if haven't played NRL by 22 won't and if do are plodders.
So working on percentages I wouldn't get hopes up on either.

I'm actually surprised at the amount of players who want to move to Sydney to be honest. I guess this is coming from someone who would never really ever want to live there though. I've never really got the attraction, particularly the further west you go. I can understand why people from there would want to stay there though.

You can see why the English players would be attracted to Canberra though, they're from smaller places like Canberra, plus the weather ironically is better. I can't ever see why a Kiwi player would necessarily choose a Sydney club over a non Sydney club though.
So one of the draws (at least in the past) would be the opportunity to invest in Sydney real estate. Buying in Newcastle or the Gold Coast aren’t exactly the kind of ROI managers are going to promote to their clients. Obviously you can buy wherever you want but the typical model for first homeowners is to live in it. Partners especially won’t be enthused about renting.

I also don’t want to live in Sydney again but there are things it does have that you don’t get in smaller cities. Entertainment options are one of them, which are important for people with disposable incomes keen to piss their money up against a wall.

It all depends on your threshold for ‘bad’. If we’re talking top 30 quality I reckon your threshold is far too high. Have a look at some of the backups in the top 30 at the biggest clubs. Absolute nuffies. Isaako is better than probably half the contracted players in the NRL.

I had a pork roll today. Was it bad? Not as good as the ones from Marrickville. But not the worse I've had.
It was ok I guess. But at $13 it was the most expensive one I've purchased.
Value for money this was poor value. It was like the Kayln Ponga of Pork rolls. Reality is, I got Analed by a pork roll in Mossman.

But as you can see its all relative. Footy players are really no different to a Vietnamese bread shop when you think about it.
Good, bad, poor value, large, small etc.

That probably doesn't apply for Canberra though at this stage, given it is now the second highest real estate prices in the country. Depends on who you're looking for though. Would Papali'i have moved here and bought a house in Sydney? I suspect no, the same appears to be for Brown, as along with Perham they're all living in the same share house. I suspect they're renting. This is a negative for Canberra, with the highest rental rates in the country.

Young single dudes would generally be happy to rent. It’s the blokes with wives and kids who would be under pressure to buy. These also happen to be the ones most likely to occupy leadership positions in your club.

Real estate investment might well be a draw card for Canberra, but it is also perceived to be a boring place to live. Personally I love Canberra and could earn more there but I’m a boring merkin who likes to stay at home.

You would think that the exact type of player you referred to around wives/kids/leadership that Canberra would be the most ideal place for them. I'm surprised more of these type of players haven't shown interest in Canberra. Perhaps they have, but no real reason for them to move from Sydney if you're earning the money they would already be earning.

Issaako has played over 100 nrl game, mostly for Brisbane. He was then chased by titans / eels this year. Then signed for 2 years by the dolphins….

That 4 clubs that had interest in him / have signed him.

That’s a better indication he is a decent player (not saying he is above average) to have in your top 30, rather then a drop ball in a reserve grade game…

He's talented, for sure.

But he makes so many bone-headed unforced errors...

I don't know why anyone would go a short dropout in an elimination final in golden point when it's fraught with the danger of not being executed properly and not going the 10 and hence giving away a match-conceding penalty right in front of the sticks 10 metres out.... The very definition of bone-headed....
