Solid first graders maybe, rather than stars in all 17 positions.

It doesn’t demonstrate it at all. An upset result is an outlier. It proves nothing.
The Storm have a superior spine to most other clubs so they can be very competitive even with fringe first graders in team, which they have. Have a good spine, and processes, and you can carry poorer players.

They also have a lot of strong defenders, including toilers in the middle. Once you've got that down you only need to sprinkle a few attacking players around them. Papenhuyzen, Coates, Olam, Munster, Grant and NAS. The rest are nothing special in attack, but they all defend well, including the halves. As an attacker Jahrome Hughes is very overrated. Not that he's a bad player but Grant and Munster are the go-to guys in that team. Hughes is the cheap supporting half.

I’m not sure I agree. Munster yes, top player but proves regularly he is no Cronk or Thurston with his errors.
I would not swap Jerome Hughes for Moses and day of the week. Paps is a very good player, but he is no Teddy.

Yet we had about 6 juniors in our gf team. Does any club, other than Penrith, have more? Are we doing really that bad?
I don't think six is a lot. We had six players who debuted at our club and who also played 20+ games this year. The only other top eight side with fewer than us was the Chooks:

Club (by ladder position)Local debutantes who played 20+ games in 2022
Penrith11
Cronulla6
North Queensland8
Parramatta6
Melbourne8
Easts5
Souths8
Canberra7

I suspect we're heavily hamstrung on the recruitment front until they sort out the final salary cap, and then once they do that, work out if Nrown and Cartwright can find somewhere else, and then they will need to wait for what Moses and Brown are doing after that.

I'd be surprised if we're in the market for anyone above minimum wage until all three of those situations are finalised.

Smartest post I've read in here for a good while. Bravo.... I reckon they'll move on Blake as well.

Sounds like we're opening a McEels franchise.

Breaking news we have just signed Asi from Warriors. I said not long ago that we should sign him I'm really happy to see that we did. Think he should be given the first crack at left center. Can play 1,6,7 and center perfect backup for our spine. Kid is talented
As I said when you posted it first a while or so ago this kid would be a good 14 signing. I suspect we've got him cheap on minimum wage for two seasons. To be honest this is a great signing, looks like he'd be a good player in a good team.

Realistically, a motivated Nrown off the bench or he departs and we can bring in Taupau and we are good to go for 2023.
