Rumours and Stuff

Exactly my thoughts. I’m happy for both parties to go in another direction in 2025. Timing would be almost perfect for both parties.
I'd like to see what the successor can do first. Most fail to deliver. I'm leaning towards signing Moses for a few more years even though it's less exciting, I think it's probably the better option. At the right price of course.

Do we want Moses to just take his option? I’m thinking, yes. Surely any larger extension will impact the succession plan with Sanders?

Many would say no but if Moses does not take us at the very least deep into the semifinals would we want to re-sign him long term or would another option in a young half like Sanders be the better strategy?

Sanders hey? I've heard this story to often. Yes he may be a gun but he may also be another Troy Dargan or Albert Kelly.

Agree. I remember when we signed that half from St George this year then released him. He was talked up also. I reckon 8/10 players we talk up in juniors don't even played 50 NRL games. Of the other 2 how many become stars? Its dam hard just to become an average NRL half let alone a top shelf one.

I feel like with Moses and those negotiations, now that Drown and Guth/RCG/Jnr/Matto and hopefully Penisini are signed up longer term, we're waiting for Penrith to slip a gear and then win a comp on their down slide rather than us taking what we might otherwise believe to be the step up we need to beat them... And I'm absolutely OK with that.. let's just get that comp merkins.... But I'm glad we've invested in Drown long term... There's something about the boy....

Penrith just won all 4 grades. I bet there is 3 or 4 gun players waiting in the pipeline.

I'm not fussed if we win a comp. Making finals every year is still pretty fun to watch.

Yeah we are probably not going to match them for a few years. And making finals is fun I was going off like a motherf**ker at the end of the cowboys game. So we're not likely to be favourites in any GF we make soon but you only need a bit of luck.

We have a bunch of backup hookers. If you don't like the quality of them, have a think about how many clubs can keep two NRL quality dummy halves on the books. Even the ones who do manage it eventually have to lose one to a club that has more need for him.

Rein
Arthur
Hands
Yates

I don't think you'll find too many clubs with more depth than this.

Firstly, Arthur isn't a back up hooker. Secondly, the other three might be suitable, but with Hodgson there is a better than average chance that he could be out injured for a lengthy period of time (due to age, history of injuries). In which case our back up might become our main hooker for a substantial part of the season. Would we be happy with Hands, Yates or Rein as our main hooker? I'd like us to explore better options to support Hodgson.
