Nathan Brown is on a similar deal. He is on $550k this season which is why we will
be contributing at least half of it if the Tigers take him on. This is what Tapau is waiting for. We tip in $200k to the Tigers for Brown and use the rest (about $350k) for Tapau.

Buddy we took over his whole contract term. The first two years the Panthers contributed and the last few years we had to pay full freight. It was back loaded and I know that he is on $550k this season. That’s overs.
If true, back-ended contracts are supposed to be overs in the later years. That's what back-ending a contract means. You get them cheaper in early years in exchange for overpaying at the end. In that case it's money he's entitled to.

On the wing he is fine in attack but terrible under the high ball. If he fixed that then he is solid.
At centre when fit his pretty good. People call his defense but in the back half of 2021 it was excellent.

Depending on his cost and how he goes the first half of the season would pend if we offer him a new deal. But to think he isn't NRL level is silly. He is fast and strong and dangerous. On his day he would be probably our most explosive back.
Sorry, I totally disagree. I hope he comes nowhere near first grade.

Where was mine a version of how I see it? I gave a possible course of action. I even said ideally and hoping. Then pointed out I did.
You said that my assessment was narrow minded and self fulfilling (whatever that means). In my mind I don't think that anything will change in the NRL except merkins will get richer.

But this makes sense. Nrown re-signed when we were 7 from 8 in 2021 and he was killing it. He had a great 2020 as well. He was worth at least $550k. The only thing making him less valuable (to us) was the fact we already had so many good forwards. Middles are huge contributors on both sides of the ball. Outside backs only are if they make a lot of metres or score a lot of tries.

Narrow minded = not being open to possibilities that while sure long term you’ll be correct, that it’s not an A->B route and a club could tip the scales in the short term.
Self fulfilling = for certain heaps of people think the way you do, and if enough work for the club or influence the club, then your assessment will come true whether there were other possibilities or not.

Lol.....all I stated was that I think that nothing will change with an increase in the salary cap. I didn't think that I'd be heading down both of these roads. No worries, though.

No you said the club will be no better off. I’ve outlined how the club could be. You continue to refuse to see my point, thus narrow minded.

I seem to recall Nrown was being chased hard by Manly and likely to go. They then dropped out and he was forced to renegotiate with Parra but Parra dropped their original offer and he re signed for less. Maybe I dreamed this but I doubt hes on 550k.
He might be worth it, to a club that can give him long minutes. He’s just not worth it to us.
