Foran wants and needs time away to sort his life, and fair enough too.
The Telecrap has won, well done Bourbon Becky, you kick a man while he is down and in a bad mental state and then keep sinking in the boot til he has to walk away and i bet it doesn't stop.
I really feel for Foran and his family and friends.
Mental health causes so much pain for not just the suffer but those around them and when you constantly cop in the public via the media what hope do you have of getting better.
He needs to leave the country for a while, pack up his family and get away from everything, forget rugby league for a while get better. This is the first step and a big one.

I said over a month ago that Foran would not be back and I hope that he gets all the help he needs. We don't need both Hayne and Foran and life always comes before football. I will tell you the reason why we don't need both, his name is Valentine Holmes. As Emjaycee has said Hayne will be in the halves next year and the year after that Valentine will come, we have already signaled our interest.

In the short term you have Robson as depth and if they aren't playing Hayne in the halves, Cooper Cronk is a must have for 2017. I don't see why that is not an option if you aren't just writing off next year as a rebuilding year.

It also has nothing to do with the Telegraph, what a stupid excuse. It has everything to do with Foran's personal life and the issues he has involved himself in that have eventuated in him needing to get better. The media is a price you pay when you earn good money in public life. I'm sure everyone would be celebrities or politicians otherwise.

Some of you had no qualms with kicking Hagan when he was down. It seems there are no issues with the media kicking people if you aren't on the bandwagon. The same goes with Sandow, some of you need to take a good, hard and long look at yourself. Tim Smith? Again, same story. I'm glad most have gone on to big and better things than this decade-long rubbish and I'm sure Foran will eventually too.

Whilst it might just be a coincidence or a "curse" that all our halfback's end up going the same way, I think the culture of some of the Eels fans that seem to not understand that the halfback is not the deterministic factor of the entire football side, they like the coach are a scapegoat position in rugby league. I have said that since before Tim Smith left...and a lot of you had no problems with laying the boot in.

Hypocrites.

The real reason for our lack of success has always been the soft, relaxed nature of the team. Like them or loathe them, the competitive drive is what is behind the Storm machine. Week in, week out, letting your team mates down is an unspeakable sin. At least that culture was improving over recent times.

We have used both get out of JAIL cards with WAtmough and FORAN.

Add him to the list of Manly duds - Lussick - watmough-Hoppa-Cannings-Foran .....Our best buy from them was David Gower lol.

However good FORAN was - He was never a 1.2 mill player. Only if he was in the top 3 halves in the game he would be worth that coin. He may of been worth 800k, maybe 900 at a stretch. But at 1.2 even if he played very well he was costing more then he is worth. The fact he has been THE WORSE SIGNING in club history.
That is not debatable. Not only did he cost us 1.2 million for 5-6 very average games he also stuffed our team - We where unable to sign Jnr and let Peats go and didn't chase any halves last year like hodgo or Maloney.

I'm looking at this purely as a supporter of the club.I do not know Keiran personally and wish him all the best. There is more to life then work or footy. But for our club he was a failure.

Hayne is a fullback, why anyone would want to move one of our best players from his favourite position I find very difficult to believe.
because we have a bloke like French waiting in the wings???

Would the side not be stronger with both of them in the starting side???

What do you do with BEVAN? I guess on the wing for 2 yrs would be ok but if Hayne signs for 4?

2 things about this article.

1st: Not one credible source is quoted. So until an official announcement is made, I don't believe a word of it.
2nd: If this is true? F*ck that guy. We've been bending over backward to help him out, he already has the rest of this year off, but he quits us anyway? F*ck him.

I have a bad feeling we're going to slowly sink back to lower mediocrity. We were looking so promising for next year, but I'm not sure that works without a quality half helping Norman.

TBH his 2009 form when he was young was his best at FB. His kick returns where without peer. In his last years he was most effective at chiming in to the backline and that's where his cutout passes to both left and right were most effective. So No.6 makes sense now.

The only problem we have is that Norman and Hayne will both want to play a running style of game. Is there room for both those types of players ? Who will run the team ?

Some of you automatically assume Norman is staying :)

Cute.

Cronk and Hayne would be amazing. That is a combination of direction and skill that would be lethal.

Norman did a pretty good job of it last year with a mess like Sandow beside him.

Give French time, he is still a rookie. Fair bit of pressure playing fullback. He will eventually get there but a year of the wing would be good for him.

Flogging a dead horse much? There is every indication that the Eels were the problem judging by Warri

You are unbelievable. Sandow is the smartest man in Rugby League for getting out of here and starring in the Super League. Isn't it funny how he was the second coming of Peter Sterling before he came here along with all the halfbacks before and after him. Some of you will never learn and would rather believe in superstitions or curses rather than look at how this club has been managed.

If Hayne is the best fullback, which he is, why the f**k would you play some one else at fullback ?

I don't understand the logic. Just because they are both in the side doesn't make it our best line up if they are being played out of position.

No 1 priority is that Hayne plays where he likes and build the team around that. The number on their back doesn't mean a lot now days, French could still roam around if need be, depends what his kicking game is like I guess, maybe give him a run in the halves and see how he goes.

By the same token, French is a try scoring machine atm, why would you want to move him from the wing when he is doing so well.

If Hayne went to the halves, Gutherson should go back there rather then French.

French is a lot better finisher the Gutherson.

While Gutherson has a bit more experience and his best half of footy this year was at fullback.

I think it's cute that you think we have any hope of getting Cronk..

He is cheaper than Foran would be even if he inflates his price to leave Melbourne. You don't think Brad Arthur would have connections in Melbourne?

Anyone who says someone is "too old" has obviously been watching State of Origin on turps.
