Rumours and Stuff

He is cheaper than Foran would be even if he inflates his price to leave Melbourne. You don't think Brad Arthur would have connections in Melbourne?

What makes you think he'd even want to come here? To entice him here we'd have to pay massive overs (as we did with Foran) and I doubt we could afford it, especially if we are going to be paying overs for Hayne as well...

He is half the price of Foran, I doubt we would have to double his contract to get him for a couple of years. I'd prefer we let both Norman and Foran go and have Cronk and Hayne if that was the option. Norman is going to be asking for more next year hence why we haven't resigned him. You can't tell me that for probably a similar price Hayne and Cronk is not better than Norman and Hayne. You can't have two of the same in the halves hence why Norman and Sandow didn't work. You need a structured playmaker and a freakish talent, not two of the same.

Who knows if he would come here, but the feelers need to go out.

Ricky's prediction may now be coming true.
Hayne to the halves, just like Lockyer.

1. French
2. Semi.
3. Taka
4. Jennings
5. Gutha
6. Hayne
7. Norman
8. Mannah
9. IDG
10. Wicks
11. Ma'u
12. Moeroa
13. Scott

14. Pritchard
15. Edwards
16. Vave
17. Alvaro
Except... Hayne has previously proved poor when he plays in the front line at centre or five eighth.

Plus Norman and Semi are no certainties for next season with court cases pending, we look weak at dummy half and we need to hold onto some decent backup forwards.

To be honest, I'd rather sign Benji cheap for a season while this settles down than commit to an expensive and (unproven in the halves) Hayne.

If Hayne went to the halves, Gutherson should go back there rather then French.

French is a lot better finisher the Gutherson.

While Gutherson has a bit more experience and his best half of footy this year was at fullback.

The counterpoint to that line of thought is that French is also the best play-making fullback to come out of the NYC in some time. We have only had a glimpse at a small part of his full array of talents in the Nines and NRL due to us only really harnessing his speed.

I am intrigued by the positional puzzle that faces BA here. There are meritorious arguments having Hayne wear the #1 or the #6.

Some may argue that the transition to NYC from NRL as fullback is more than a handful of games. Easts have bought Flash but you would think that Mitchell has got the gig for 10 years. Maybe Coach Trent Robinson thanks that the transition will take most of next year.

Give French time, he is still a rookie. Fair bit of pressure playing fullback. He will eventually get there but a year of the wing would be good for him.
French is not a winger, never played there at all in his junior footy. Him being left on the wing is probably tougher for him then playing his natural position.

How many kick returns did he make on the wing vs Sharks ? How many would he have made if he was fullback ?

If Hayne is the best fullback, which he is, why the f**k would you play some one else at fullback ?

I don't understand the logic. Just because they are both in the side doesn't make it our best line up if they are being played out of position.

No 1 priority is that Hayne plays where he likes and build the team around that. The number on their back doesn't mean a lot now days, French could still roam around if need be, depends what his kicking game is like I guess, maybe give him a run in the halves and see how he goes.

By the same token, French is a try scoring machine atm, why would you want to move him from the wing when he is doing so well.
He is also a massive liability in defence on the wing, Big Jack always said pick the best 17 players, that means both of them in the 17 with French at 1 and Hayne at 6. Hayne is absolutely massive now he would probably struggle at the back with all the running needed.

My main point was his defence, his side was clearly targeted against the Sharks Gun halves like Cronk and Thurston would single him out big time.

Flogging a dead horse much? There is every indication that the Eels were the problem judging by Warri

You are unbelievable. Sandow is the smartest man in Rugby League for getting out of here and starring in the Super League. Isn't it funny how he was the second coming of Peter Sterling before he came here along with all the halfbacks before and after him. Some of you will never learn and would rather believe in superstitions or curses rather than look at how this club has been managed.
There is a lot of flogging going on but it's not with a dead horse.

You are off your head. He would NOT be half the amount of money of Foran to come to Parra and forget anything you know as Cronk is potentially an immortal in waiting. He would not come near Parra who is a basket case of a club with a 10foot pole! For any amount of money.

Take this with a pound of salt, but a workmate who is a Dragons supporter reckon they've offered Norman $950K a season.

He's not in anyway reliable, but it's a rumor, so...

If he's right though, I don't see us matching that.

Andrew Webster said on the BSB this morning that the dragons are showing interest in Norman
