I think we have a lot of good forwards. I don't know how many great ones we've got (possibly none). But that may be all we need.
Yeah mate, plus if we can keep our great defensive line from last year we will be in a hell of a lot of games. All depends on our pretty green spine but if French and Guth can do the job we will have a huge season.

I can clearly see how you deducted that mannah will not start from the fact that every game he played last season he started ... how did anyone miss that? So obvious

Seems to me as if Phantom is forgetting that with limited interchanges, a coach doesn't always play their "top 3 middle forwards" in the 13 that run on at the start of the game. Different players have different strengths (and weaknesses) and a smart coach will use his bench to take maximum advantage of this.

Simply saying that "If Mannah is not in our top three middle forwards, he'll displace Peni for that bench spot" doesn't take into account the actual game plan of the coach.

As has been stated before, in the early stages of a match you probably want someone with a low error rate, a good tackle efficiency rate and ability to make their share of metres per minute. Mannah ticks all of these.

Not at all.. I was more responding ti people who couldn't fathom that Mannah might not start.

The mention of Terepo was more to do with how I'd structured my post, giving (bench) spots to players previously preferred by BA to pkay a lot of games.

I was simply explaining that if a declining Mannah was considered our 4th best prop in 2017 (sacrilege but entirely possible?), then Terepo would likely miss out on the first choice 17.

If you'd read the post, you'd see I acknowledged coach gameplans by saying that there would be 3 omitted, on a week to week basis. I just don't think Mannah ticks as many boxes as he used to, and our recruitment has been such that if england come knocking we could happily release Tim midyear.

What is mannah not doing now that he used to? .... and keep in mind he missed half of this season with a f**ked shoulder, which is a pretty serious injury for a battering ram

I know I really shouldn't feed the Troll but....Declining? Do you have a TV that shows games from a parallel universe?

Our highest average metres gained for a forward in 2016. Second highest average tackle stat of the props. Third most effective tackler at the club.

Definitely declining...lol!

The problem is that for the last few months (roughly) you have been claiming that Mannah is declining and yet offer nothing to support this assertion which is then the basis for your ongoing views.

I (and others) have offered you statistical proof that shows Mannah's performance has been consistent over the last few years, that he is comparable statistically with other 'name' players from other clubs and yet you still state he is in decline. You also seem to think that a contract renewal in 2014/15 would be on the same basis as his renewal when he as a SoO player in 2011 and ignore others when we remind you that he wasn't a SoO player in 2014 and hence your argument is invalid.

I think De Gois will be found out if he's going to have to play 80 minutes, so I can't see us having a bench of Brown, Edwards, Vave and F Pritchard.
BA didn't sign these new forwards to play for Wenty so I am assuming all will be starting (barring injuries). Edwards could be trained to be backup hooker while regular off, they are usually only missing for 10-15 mins anyway and don't think we would lose anything with him playing there. A very skilful forward who can also kick if I remember correctly.
