I’d say it’s more that, whatever Souths are offering, a club like Parra (or Canberra) would have to at least match it entirely inside the cap. This is why a handful of clubs are in or around the top four nearly every year. It’s not that the other ten clubs are ‘poorly run’. They just don’t have the same advantages as the top clubs. And by advantages I mean resources.
Jeez I wish the ARLC would hurry up and publicise all the players salaries including TPA's just so we can shut you up with your lame bullsh*t excuses.
Remember when they listed how much each club had in TPA's a few years ago now? Sure we were low, but so were a few other well run clubs with great rosters at the time including the Roosters. You are just so ridiculous and not in a funny way.
The rorting, if it is happening is not being done in plain sight. It would be outside of the salary cap and TPA's. That is why if we want to compete with the likes of Rusty and Uncle Nick or the wealth of talent of the Broncos and Panthers we ourselves need to massively improve in junior identification, Put up and continue to put up a massive stink with the ARLC about clubs like Manly setting up shop in OUR junior district, expand our catchment area like the Panthers have done with Bathurst and identify an area either in NSW or one of the Pacific Islands(my fav is Fiji) that we feel has massive potential as a production line and pour a decent amount of recourses with permanent scouts and coaching clinics involved. Make the Fiji islands ours as much as possible for example. Back in our home nursery go into private and Union schools and work hard on bribing them to be affiliated with us. And finally some freakin merkin that has real clout in the business world should be brought on that his sole job is to find TPA's and to court the big end of town and bring them in to be part of the Parra family.
I know we already do this to some degree, but we aren't doing it all that well. Whoever is in charge of TPA's and attracting the rich and famous is doing a piss poor job of it and should be fired. We need someone with connections and influence. We are competing with the likes of a Hollywood super star and a Billionaire. Middle of the road won't cut it. As for the other stuff, they are things that any club with strong management, enough money(which we have) and real desire and a will to be truly successful can do. We should be looking at all options and turn over every stone and always be looking to innovate and be Eagles not sheep. Otherwise a Premiership at best will be fluky and a one off that can't be sustained and God knows when that will ever happen? I want us to be leaders again, not Pou's favourite excuse of mediocrity.
