I'd imagine you can't frontload ridiculous amounts either. Just as they don't want you paying 150k in the first year and 600k in the second, I can imagine they wouldn't let you pay 600k in the first year and 150k in the second.
The issue I see with Frontloading is you can be sure managers would see the opportunity there

Say we decide not to sign anyone and front load Mitch with a top up this season so he is on something like
2023 - 1.4
2024 - 1.2
2025 - 1.2
2026 - 900
2027 - 900

So we give him an extra $600k this season and drop the last 2 years to $900K
I guarantee come the end of 2025 the manager will be putting out stories about how he is then unsettled, clashing with the coach etc. to negotiate a release and then con another club into paying the 1.2+ for the last 2 years

For those planning on going to Melbourne to watch us play.

We are playing at Marvel stadium the indoor venue docklands.

We played the 2007 preliminary final there.

But also beat the storm 54-10 in 2001 there.

Shit ground for RL there.

Some might not like this, but I suggest that you put your big boy pants on and read the analysis. Then argue the points (maybe without hysteria), if you have any disagreement.

That analysis is predominantly about Paulo’s class and tries to attribute some of that to Hodgson because he passed him the ball. That one step he takes is more often than not the reason he takes too long to get rid of the ball which:

1. Leads to him throwing forward passes as the runner has often overrun or they at least have to check their run due to the slower ruck clearance.
2. The opposition line speed seemingly quicker than it is because they’ve got an extra second to move up.

Used sparingly, that step can engage the markers but Hodgson does it every fricken time. He’s also next to no chance of taking a quick run so good teams just hold off him and slide. That extra time gives us no room out wide.

Stop worrying about a hypermetrical of what may or may not happen to our best and hardest working player. So what if Gutho ends up like a battered old Ray Price. It wouldn't matter if he did as long as we built up our team with real quality and support around him as we did with the Crow and Pricey all those years ago, unlike what we did for Hindy's last few years and we made him look like a busted hot mess running all over the place with no impact and his mate on the panel shows laughing at him for those last few years.

How good would it be if in Gutho's last season we see him off like we did Pricey and the Crow holding up the premiership Trophy? What a fitting thank you and good bye that would be all of us right?

But that can only happen if our brains trust doing the hiring and the firing realise that he isn't a problem they need to solve but there are other more pressing areas they need to shore up and strengthen. If we added speed and power to our backline and a couple of quality props, then someone like Gutho would be a standout star no matter how old and battered he is. That is in his blood. He just needs to be supported with the players around him not letting him down and making him look like a spent force trying to chase their shortcomings and merkins on here thinking he is the problem.

There is always a place for old quality players as long as you have younger quality around them. Look at the Sharks, they had what 5 or 6 veterans in their GF winning team? It is all about how you support those players with the personnel around them. If we don't have a good enough team to make Gutho's life easier and him to be able to shine when he is in his mid 30's, then I have news for you mate, we won't have a good enough team to win it anyway. Gutho is not the problem.
You lost me at Brains…

See @TheRam, this is unsourced but logical. This is the kind of analysis that makes sense, not your random player-we-hate-must-be-on-huge-money. You’ve repeated it to each other so much the media has now picked it up and is feeding it back to you.

The analysis includes footage showing him force defenders to turn in.

“Used sparingly” ffs. As if you understand dummy half play better than Josh Hodgson.
