Answer the question you fluffy fence sitting apologist. Sack or keep. It’s that simple.
I'm saying it's not as simple as you think it is. If you're looking to sack a coach based on the team's results it needs to be over a longer period than just a single season. We were poor in 2018 but that was a long time ago. However another season like that would be concerning. Really though, I think the coach should be replaced when his relationships with key players and staff deteriorates to the point of being untenable. A season of poor results might indicate that, or it might not. How could we know? From snippets of sideline footage during a game? It's bullshit. And you should know I'm a person who hates gossip, which is what a lot of rugby league 'discourse' seems like to me. Pathetic little people just wanting to see others fail.

I don't think anyone would be paying him that sort to money now. It could be as low as $500K, but I would think a ceiling for him would be $600-650K.

Even the Tigers aren't that desperate now.
The Tigers have Klemmer and Utoikamanu, neither of whom would be cheap. Do the Dragons need a prop?

I think he would be on little enough that the opportunity cost is minimal. It probably reduces the likelihood that we will keep Ogden or Cartwright, who definitely aren't the solution to our defensive problems.
True but defensive issues are this year so Ogden/Cartwright going next year doesn’t affect that

For all the Paul Alamoti fans, have you seen some of his defensive reads and he hasn't shown anything like Averillo has attack or speed and footwork wise? Not saying he won't improve, I mean he is only 19 years old and playing in the same crap team that Averillo is, but just because he is bigger and stronger then Averillo doesn't mean he will be better long term. Might be, but might not. Both these players have question marks over their futures that's why the Dogs have chosen to add two new centres to their squad for next season. But on potential Averillo and maybe Alamoti are better then anything we currently have at our club and should not break the bank.

Like I said though, their defensive weaknesses would be significantly improved upon in a better all round team. I just tend to think when you have great speed it is way easier to adjust and recover and we also are lacking that blistering kind of speed which I would love us to have again. It would make such a difference to our attack and give our playmakers a new option to work with that we haven't had for years. I see Alamoti as being no faster than what we already have.
True but the least we can do is make the Dogs pay up for him

But he does for 2023 & 2024 combined just like his cap affect. He’s not by himself a bad signing but more was he a necessary signing
I think for sure he wasnt the X factor signing that some idiots on here are claiming in a sad attempt to be either funny or relevant, but he was probably a worthy enough siging given we have lost RCG for up to 6 or 7 weeks and we had cap space for him.

I had no issue with signing Davey - I did have an issue with him being included ahead of others in the starting lineup last week.

His high minutes and low attacking involvement (1 run every 6.6 minutes) shows he was in the team for his defence. By contrast, Matterson was on for 52 minutes and made 23 runs (1 run every 2.3 minutes). It's the player's output that is most important, not whether they start or how many minutes they play. Matterson also made more tackles than Davey.

I’ll pay that, assuming Davey’s 2024 salary is negligible

But will he in 2024? And if he is, is it because we had signed him up to cover a 2023 hole?
I just can’t see how he’d be on so much that it would prevent a more important signing. If he’s in the top 17 now (arguable) he would still be good enough for the top 20 next year, and surely not on too much to justify missing out on a bench spot.

serious question for yourself, Pou, Gronk, Emjaycee...do you ever want to see more from Parra? Or are you just happy with what we have?

Why is it that you take any criticism of the coach, management or underperforming players like a personal affront?

I infer that Emjaycee is apparently close to those within the inner circle and probably takes it personally for that reason, but what is the story with the rest of you?
Nailed it !!!
