Your right roosters are torn with Keary and Walker.

Keary has done the job for them in the past with 2 premierships and a Clive Churchill medal. Compared to Walker who wasn't won anything other then a solitary finals match.

So they are probably struggling with letting keary go.

In saying that my roosters mate said to me after round 1 when they got run down by the fins they won't win a comp with Walker.

He reckons he is a downhill skier.
I'd hate to have a downhill skier wearing my teams number 7 jersey...

With the best of intentions, the person who first came up with the term "Centre of Excellence" must now be soooo disappointed by all of the mediocre and Micky Mouse joke entities that have that label attached!!

It was used as the label for the technical team that used to look after the finance and HR systems at the last place I worked.... Became colloquially known to staff as the Centre of Excrement....

i personally was a huge fan of the ‘academy’

No. My tiny rodents tell me it’s the tip of the iceberg and the club in question are going to lose a shit ton of people at all levels
Should we be getting ready to strike and sign up any of these people that are leaving?? On the assumption of course that the club in question is not Parra!!

He is only young, but I dare say his defensive issues will always be with him due to his size at least to some extent. He is the classic Kryptonite player. To good offensively but a huge liability in the defensive line. They can win a premiership depending on who and the quality of the other 16 players are in the squad.

Think of it this way, when the Roosters won their 2 back to back premierships with Cronk guiding them, I know for one Cooper was a passenger, with Walker in instead of Keary, would the Roosters still have won? Remember, I am referring to a walker that has now matured and is say 26-27 years of age surrounded with the likes of the players that they had then.

If Walker is allowed to mature and develop with the right strong squad of players around him, a half or 58th that can compliment his game and not also be a major liability in defense like Cooper could provide, then I have no reason to believe he can't be part of a winning premiership team. Remember this is the Roosters, not Parra. They can quickly add to their roster the types of players that they need to sort out their issues. And at present it is easier to find quality players to fit around Walker who has so many great offensive skills and just needs time to practice and mature then finding another high end half that doesn't exist. They are way more difficult to secure.

The real issue is will the higher ups at the Roosters have the patience to make this happen or will they just bite the bullet and try to entice a quality half that is locked up at present to break his contract to join them? Or will they scour the lower grades around the country and buy the best new junior half again and wait for him to be ready?

I tend to think they won't have the patience. They will persist with Keary until something gives and in the mean time nurture Walker as much as they can in the lower grades while adding to their roster to make it as strong as they can before they give the reins to walker. By then I suspect that they will have picked up a Townsend type of player to put next to him and play the more steady role. See how all that pans out while bringing in juniors that they think will end up being the next superstar.

The only real fly in the ointment is Walker himself. Will he be willing to sit in the lower grades to learn his craft properly or will he agitate for a release? Time will tell.

Paul Kent did a article on the roosters the other day about how Robbo looks confused like never before about what's wrong with the roosters.

And he mentioned how in 2016 Robbo was always in control, had a clear mind and knew what direction they were heading he told Uncle Nick they could go 2 different ways at the start of the year after Mitchell Pearce copped a 8 week ban.

Cop the whack get everything in order Salary cap, clean out & have a 1 year rebuild in which they won just 6 games. Parramatta finished above them that year with 12 Docked points.

Or keep things as it is and remain a mid table team for 4-5 years.

Politis just said i trust your judgement do the 1 year hit and get on with it so they basically wrote 2016 off to quicken there way back to the top the following year.

I think Uncle Nick can only deal 12 months of Mediocrity as long as he knows how and the plan to get back to top. I dont think he will cop Week 2 & Week 1 exits for another 2-3 years.

Agreed. But I don't think Robinson is really all that confused as to what the underlying problem is. He has dropped Walker and moved Manu. So that tells me he knows. But the problem is it isn't enough since Keary is so hampered in his playmaking decisions due to his head issues. Robinson would never admit that publically or to a journalist. No way. Imagine if that were to ever come out publically that the coach has doubts about the playing future of his number one playmaker and the headlines that that would create? He would never undermine the kid in that way or his club for that matter.

No all this though is and done quietly and behind closed doors. If and when it needs to go public then they will make the right noise. Till then you will see Robinson tinkering around the edges trying desperately to make it work some how. But my impression is the kid is on borrowed time and eventually one way or another the Roosters and Keary will end up parting ways.

Our defense has been poor for years its down to our attitude there is no steel in it..
I just think it’s our personnel. Defence starts with slowing the ruck, which means numbers in the tackle (before the attacker hits the ground), and big packs just don’t do that well. Look at Penrith’s lightweight pack. They’ve lost plenty of talent and struggling to score but they’re still defending well.
