Rumours and Stuff

This should improve with Wiremu getting bigger minutes in the absence of Reg. He’s only 23 and would have had his development stunted by covid and BA’s strategy of having him warm the bench for 80 in previous years.
Leaves us with a middle rotation of Junior, RCG, Matto, Hopgood, Greig. Hopefully have a few juniors pushing through to the top squad as well.
He's not contracted next year

Or were the players there but not provided opportunity. Take Emu for example. Hes been doing that stuff in the 2s for 2 years.
So you don’t think that Emu has trimmed down in the recent off season, got fitter so he can play that faster NRL speed and longer minutes? You reckon that 2021 or 2022 Emu could have played NRL like he is now ?

I’m no stats guy, but I bet you a $1 that his NRL runs per minute has increased exponentially from his reggies amble hand-on-hips game.

I have seen this argument used for Carty as well, saying he was under used. However he has clearly been successful this year because he listened to whoever in the coaching staff was in his ear. No more hail marys, just run hard and only look for the off load when it’s on.Hit n stick defence. 2023 Carty is a very (?) disciplined player.

So I’m not looking for people to say congratulations to BA, it could be all Emu or his maturity or his mum or something else, but my opinion is that he is doing well because he has worked on his body and game and I don’t buy that he was always ready for NRL and it was only the lack of opportunity that blocked him.

Thoughts ?

I don’t think it’s a case that he’s better this year. Greig was also real good in NSW Cup last year. But last year we also had Oregon, Marata, Papali’i

You may be right but it is halfway through May and no decent 2024 signings.

Our Cup side is trash so no one will step up.

I'm righting off every year that Potato Head is here. No way this stubborn mule he is bringing home a Premiership.

When he is finally gone, then I will reassess depending on who the new hoax coach is and what pitiful state our roster is in at the time.

So maybe in 3 years time, I have a feeling whoever these morons will bring in as a new coach that is so underwhelming that the needle will not change in the right direction and like I said before the apologists will have a field day telling the rest of us how they were right.

I think at this stage he is a max of 20 minutes of NRL standard value per match, but that may improve over time. He is still young. We need better players than him to probably play at least 30 minutes a game in the middle.

As I said in another post, he will be fine as player 17.

Emu should be the impact player come on after 30 go for 20 minutes come off..

That role should not change with RCG out, Makatoa should be starting at Prop or even that slug in Davey.

Ok someone please tell me why we let Brown go and didnt fill it with anyone of value?

Jeez, you guys really have to get over this N. Brown thing. The guy was and is a busted spent force. He isn't the player he once was. He can't even crack the shit Roosters side either. There's a clue as to how he is travelling.

Potato Head was right in letting him languish in reserves and letting him go. As for replacing him with value, Potato Head has had to make value signing since early last year when we lost 2 quality back rowers, a bench prop and a quality DH and he did non of that. Just filled each loss with rubbish.

Hell Potato Head and Co, have had 2-3 years to recognise that we have deficiencies in the outside backs and what was coming through was so so, but have not looked at that either. Speed and power are just words to these guys. They have no clue that you need the right cattle to execute a game of collision.

I don't really care we let him go... He was shit for over a year and should not have played in the GF..

My point is we had him and sent him to the Roosters but got nothing in return. Yes cap space that's great and going to keep fans happy now.
