Im not worried about hooker ... i think degois is better than people give him credit for
Bevan is a class player - plenty to learn but he is very good
Of the spine players, I would say the biggest question mark is Gunco ... but i also think he is quite possibly the biggest surprise packet and wouldnt be surprised if he makes a real go of it
De gois - Good tackler, tough player. What he is good at is niggling and slowing play down when need be to give team a rest. One thing Peats was average at.
He however cant open a defense up running from dummy half like a segyaroo/Granville and he has no kicking game like say a Farrah/Ennis. He is a one dimensional hooker. Peats hailed the next best hooker in the game by fans on here was tough and pulled off bigger hits then de gois. Not a better defender thou about on par. He was more of a threat from dummy half but not a dynamic runner of the ball and also had no kicking game.
The question is what does de gois cost and what would Peats cost? At a guess I would say de gois is not costing a lot more then 150k while Peats would demand around 400k. Peats is a better player. He is not an elite hooker thou.
The guy we missed out on when we did sign De gois was Granville. Broncos would not release him mid season. And was our first choice. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.
As far as Kaysa goes we really do not know his quality. He has mainly played out of position and when he had played hooker its been limited minutes. Last year was his first year in a while he remained injury free for the bulk of the season. People give up on players to easy.He is aggressive, fast, motivated and strong. I wouldn't be shocked if he started the season as our 9. And if De gois was signed as more of insurance like Robson.
BA has a history of weening players in and holding them back giving them limited roles until ready. Just like Tepai-Alvaro-French etc....
