When I was 19 - just after I made my NRL debut at the Dragons - I had offers on the table from the Roosters, Knights and Eels where Ricky was the coach.

Parramatta’s $650,000 offer over two years was almost double the next best and while I ended up going to Newcastle, it piqued my interest in Ricky.

That’s the way I tend to think is what his lawyer will be pressing for.
He’ll cop a fine and maybe GB from the cops

maybe a couple of weeks suspension from the NRL and a fine.

1 charge can be written off as a regrettable mistake that can be learnt from and doesn’t taint him for too long, whereas multiple charges puts pressure on NRL and the club.

It appears the matter will be resolved in 3 weeks time.

NRL aware of this, stand him down this arvo, matter resolved, can come back to play the week after resolved.

This to me flags that defence want to negotiate with the prosecution. No doubt about the number of charges. Five seperate charges for something that is alleged to have occured in one minute? Seems excessive. I know by strict proof, he is alleged to have committed five offences. But wouldn't one charge suffice and let the Facts Sheet speak for itself? The beak would take that into account on sentencing.
