Rumours and Stuff

Lomax? He will be starting 13 wherever he goes. The only difference will be how much they pay him. He would absolutely kill it at a strong club, but if he is 100% motivated by money he will always end up at a weak club where his opportunities to shine will be outweighed by his opportunities to fail. Like Papali'i and probably any player.
He won't be starting 13 at a strong club with 2 good reliable centres who are fit. But I agree with Rammy for once....he's the sort of player who might do a good job at the Storm.

Whether he has any use to the Eels (I recognise this is not part of your argument) depends on our planned style of play. Given our current emphasis, we can fill that spot much more cheaply.

Well I don't think a club like that would make him an offer, unless one of them can play wing. I actually think wing might be Lomax's best position. He is good in the air and makes good yardage. Or metrage if you don't like imperial.

Sivo, Simonsson and Penisini must all be in the team (because they would all be in the top dozen or so earners in the club), so we only really have one backline position where we might consider an import. But then Russell is doing a good enough job and allows us to spend more on our pack and spine.

But for argument's sake, if we signed Lomax he would be in the starting backline for sure, either on the wing or pushing Simonsson out there.

Great comment in the Kennel.

“Parra are going better in attack this year, is it because Barrett joined or Mahoney left “

Then in the presser , the Hobbit said that the fans don’t have a right to boo the team, that went down well.
I've got to say, we've given away two 'Mahoney plays' this year, that I always thought stifled the attack.

First, the ridiculously long passes from dummy half to a player standing still.

Second, the continual tackle, after tackle, after tackle, crash plays close to the opponents goal line that never worked 90% of the time.

I'd be intrigued to know what Simonson would actually be on. Our left centre when we bought him was Blake, and Dunster was given first crack at right wing ahead of him.

I'd say it's less than $300k, so not a major waste if he's not in the top 17. But I'm certain he's at least in the top 20 earners, if not the top half of the squad.

The intent of those crash plays is to compress the defence, setting up the shift. Similarly to how kicking behind the line early can keep the defence honest.

Plus he executed his option. Player option wouldnt be more than a club option right?
Given the timing of all these option renewals, I assume they were all taken up by the players, but it’s possible some were player and some were club decisions, and that they weren’t all done at the same time. Maybe they were just all announced at the same time?

Is there a date where options usually expire by? Like, so they have some time before 30 June to upgrade others knowing whether someone will be here next year or not

I recall moses was late may

Maybe late May for player options and late June for club options? I’m sure there’d be standardised dates for these to be exercised. Clubs and players need enough time to move on with their lives.

Is scoring on 10% of shift plays really a failure? We have a winger who consistently scores more tries than almost every other winger.

And while we might prefer him to score even more tries, especially when we’re behind on the scoreboard, we can only compare our attack to other teams, rather than some emotional need to score at will when we’re losing.

You learn with The Mole that he goes after some merkins and sucks up to others.

He ran a campaign against Curtis Scott but is tight lipped against his mate Paul Kent. I could go on.

It seems Flanno is on the merkin side of his filing cabinet.

Yet the winger on the other side fergo took 18 rounds to score his first try of the season.

I feel terrible for you going through life like that. To be wrong all the time but this once must be torturous for you. It must truly be Hell.

Me, I may not always be right, but I’m never wrong when it comes to knowing I’m right.
